Will Test The New Water Law At Winnemucca

A Nevada suit challenges the constitutionality of the latest water law's delegation of judicial power. Johannes Andersen and about 42 plaintiffs allege the State Engineer's actions are invalid under the state constitution. Attorney General George B. Thatcher will represent the state as the case proceeds in Winnemucca before Judge Ducker.

Death of R E Rhodes in Mason Nevada

R E Rhodes, 29, died after a week with typhoid fever in Ludwig Nevada. An exminer for Smith Valley Mercantile and later Reading Mercantile, he served as commissary and clerk roles. Funeral services were held at Mason Baptist Church with burial in Vermet, attended by many friends and family.

Copper Belt Officials Visit Yer ington to Plan Transport

W C Orem president of Nevada-Douglas Copper Co and Nevada Copper Belt Railroad with General Traffic Manager Sullivan and A C Orem of Ludwig visited Yer ington. They arranged with Salty Snyder to carry passengers and freight from Yerington station to the city. Snyder will buy a passenger truck of the bus type. Freight will be handled as before. The railroad will supply crushed rock to macadamize Bridge street. County Commissioners will repair and maintain the road. Tickets will be sold from all points directly into Yer ington.

State Receives Forestry Funds From Washington

The state treasurer at Carson City received a check for 16356.89 from Washington for Nevada’s share of forestry department receipts for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1913. Funeral for W. C. Hernleben at Methodist Church

The funeral for W. C. Hernleben was held at the Methodist Church last Monday afternoon. He arrived from Phoenix, Arizona, the day before. Few details are known about his death, which occurred after he was struck by a train, leaving him badly mangled with both legs severed.
