Doctor Devine to Visit Yerington for Eye Care

Dr. George P. De Vine, eye specialist, will be at the Holland Hotel in Yerington for several days starting December 2 to meet people in need of an oculist's services.

Christmas Bazaar by Smith Valley Ladies at Wellington Hall

The Smith Valley ladies host a Christmas Bazaar at Wellington Hall on Friday night December 2. A cafeteria style fried chicken supper begins at 6 p.m. with decorated halls, booths of gift items, homemade candies and ice cream, plus a program of vocal and instrumental music. Admission is free.

Property Owners to Straighten Street on Main

Chas. Fox Tanner and Ambro Rosaschi, owners on the east side of Main Street, attended the City Council meeting to plan removing their buildings from the sidewalk. Rosaschi will repair the burned Hub saloon and move the Hox building back to the sidewalk line. Mrs. Horton is expected to remodel the Eagle building to comply. The Commercial hotel corner barely extends past the line and need not be moved now.

Library Week in Yerington a Big Success

Library Week in Yerington drew praise for the Woman's Club and Parent Teachers Association as they canvassed the town for books. Over three hundred oaks were placed in the farm bureau office with more expected, totaling around five hundred. The collection includes history education and the latest fiction and will be available to the public starting January 1.

Big Shipment of Mason Valley Turkeys

Over four and a half dozen tens of turkeys were shipped from the Yerington office of the American Express Company in two weeks. The birds went to Reno Tonopah Virginia City and Carson and some to California. Major consignors included Model Meat Market M Delmonica and J Iandi with others such as Dr Nichols Mrs Williams H C Guild Mrs J A Dillon and Elizabeth Purcell.

Birthday Party for Arthur Anderson in Yerington

A birthday party was given on November 22 at Mrs. Woodle’s home in honor of Arthur Anderson. Guests included Hazel Davis, Phyllis Lauren, Billie Campbell, Donald Snyder, Joseph Leavitt, Linville Bertram, Leah Welsh, Phyllis Newcombe, and Masine Trankel. James Boland of Reno’s Singer Sewing Machine man arrived in Yerington Sunday for business. H. S. Deadrich of Sweetwater and E. S. Berney of Fallon were noted as local visitors and arrivals.

Pigs Ship to Boost Poland China Club in Mason Valley

County agents report 20 youths enrolled in a registered Poland China Pig Club in Mason Valley. M D Collins plans to import high grade stock from California. A $25 prize is offered for the best pig with other awards and a possible trip to California. A similar club will start in Smith Valley with shared prizes.

Principal Rev Adams Addresses PTA Meeting at High School

Rev Grewster Adams, principal speaker, addressed the Parent Teachers Association at the high school in a well attended evening. The program featured violin solo by Mr Peterson with Miss Gordon on piano, and guest solo by Mrs HW Dukes with Mrs G Wharton. Refreshments followed as general discussion closed the meeting. Rev Cunha returned Saturday from Sacramento.

Cattlemen Move to Buy Registered Bulls for Range Use

At a November 5 meeting in Minden the Little Walker River Cattlemens Association adopts a resolution to purchase twenty five registered Shorthorn bulls for use by range operators. District Court Sifts Through Estate and Appraisers

Infant Louis Rocardo Dies in Valley

Louis Rocardo five months old son of Mr and Mrs Santa Rocardo of the south end of the valley died at the Emergency hospital on Monday and was buried in the Catholic cemetery on Tuesday.
