Old and Respected Citizen Dies in Yerington
William M. Umpshaw a Civil War veteran and longtime Yerington resident died at 11 o clock Thursday from heart failure at C C Young’s home. Born February 29 1840 in Millersport Ohio he served four years and three months in sixteen Civil War battles and was mustered out in June 1865. He moved to Montana in 1866 and came to Yerington in 1907 joining Captain David Young’s family. He is survived by two nieces and three nephews and was remembered for his Golden Rule faith.
