The Yerington district shows strong copper potential with mines such as Malachite McConnell and Reno Yerington expanding. Western Nevada properties, including Newhouse holdings and Yerington Copper, report steady progress, high grade ore, and plans for a smelter as analysts predict copper prices will rise.
Walter C. Orem reports fresh ore shows up to 25 percent copper in bormite samples at the Ludwig mine in Yerington. The 550 foot level chute extends 10 feet wide with ore in face. overall ore averages about 7 percent copper. Electric power is restored and district mines, including Mason Valley, are running steadily as the camp prospers. Local notices note Hugh Glenn’s death in Virgin City and Mrs. C W Legg returning to Dayton.
