Bucking Horses and Air Show Highlight Reno Round-Up
The World’s Bucking Horse Championship will be decided at the Nevada Round-Up in Reno July 2 to 5 with a gold and silver mounted belt as the emblem. Entrants include Ben and Jimmy Dobbins, Bob Anderson, Hans Pap pas, Ed Perez, Dan Cooper, Frank Smith and others. Elimination rounds run daily. the top three on days one to three meet in the July 5 finals. Drowned gambler Beltram found in Nevada Hot Springs plunge
Beltram, a well known Yerington sport and gambler, drowned last night in the plunge at Nevada Hot Springs. He was alone. Mike Savic led a search and recovered the body. Coroner Pierce of Smith Valley held an inquest today with jurors Gilford Beaman and Jeseray. No verdict reached yet. Beltram, nicknamed Frank, had recently lost money and some suspect suicide.

Property recently taken over by water bond and lease from A Peterson on Cottonwood Creek near Walker Lake.

Bixby a federal drainage engineer working with Joe Wilson of the Farm Bureau and Elmer Hanson for the Yerington Commercial Club has finished sinking 16 test wells in the valley. The 10 foot wells measure water table depth, now about 3 feet below ground, with six feet desired for best land production. Wells will check drainage canal results and water level across seasons. Tioga Pass To Open Next Week
Gardnerville reports Tioga Pass from Mono Lake to Yosemite Valley is expected to open between July 1 and July 10. Heavy snowfall last winter delayed opening and hundreds of motorists await the pass reopening for travel between Yosemite and Lake Tahoe with traffic likely heavier than last season.

Mr. Wilson father of Mrs. Roy McGowan of Smith Valley sustained a badly broken leg after being run over by a wagon at the Smith Valley ranch on Monday.
