County agent Thoutas yekman from Reno reports the alfalfa weevil, first seen last year in Washoe, continues to spread. Surveys by Noble Waite show limited early damage, with infestations near Verdi absent while areas southeast toward Sparks, Fernley, and Fallon show ongoing trouble due to prevailing winds. Parasitic enemies from Italy show promise, and plans to introduce them through Salt Lake aim to curb spread with spraying.
