Bad Check Arrests Involving E Sonne and Associates

Ernest Sonne, son of O H Sonne, jailed with Chester Hillburn, with forgery charges likely. Albert J Webster, who runs an employment agency, filed a complaint after Hillburn presented a $2450.19 check signed with Sonn e’s name. Sonne had prior forgery conviction and was once paroled. Arthur Leach was later released after a quick settlement of the matter.

Walking Tractor 10 to be Built in Nevada

Louw M. Gardiner, mechanical engineer and inventor of the walking farm tractor, arranges for construction at a Reno plant. The unique tractor moves on its own feet, avoids soil packing, suits small farms, orchards, and gardens, and could replace horses, steam, and gasoline engines. Representatives will visit Verington to place stock. Bowler, familiar with German use for a decade, is keen on Reno manufacturing.

Leland Keema Finishes Ham Contest With Pig

Leland Kee ma wins the three month pig club feeding contest under the University Extension Department. The pig gained nearly two pounds daily and finished at 270 pounds at seven months, fed with self‑fed wheat bran milk and grain. Mason Mercantile Co supplied a premium. Viola Roehl raised purebred Chelons and aims for fair prizes this fall.

Lyon County Commissioners Meeting Adjourned Session Highlights

The Lyon County Commissioners met in an adjourned session Monday the 23rd. They discussed surveying the Mineral and Lyon counties line, a right of way for the state highway, and authorized a new typewriter purchase for the Clerk and Treasurer. Affidavits for tax/assessment reductions were filed and debated, with several real estate and livestock adjustments approved or to be acted on next meeting. Fern Hardin visited Mrs. Geo. Plummer Jr. and labor notices were posted at the Times office.
