The Nevada Federation of Women’s Clubs held a large Reno meeting on January 10 with officers and delegations from multiple towns. The board outlined finances, reports, and plans for the year including cooperation among departments and a proposed Armenian independence stance.
On Monday M Coddington sold the Yerington Ice and Soda factory for 7500 dollars to J F Mord. Cremer & Erickson Co from Reno will run the plant and keep manufacturing ice and soda water. They use Mason Mercantile’s storehouse in Mason temporarily for grain products.
Mrs Mae Fish died January 17 in Mameda California after measles led to pneumonia. Born April 9 1881 in Mason Valley she married Nate Fish in 1899 and lived in the valley. Survived by husband daughter Mrs Cleora Dunn and sister Mrs Jesse Kennedy. Funeral Thursday at Rink Hall with R Le Waggyover officiating. interment at local cemetery.
Queen of the Valley Rebecca Lox presided as officers were installed for six months. Grand Marshal Leverich and Deputy Perry oversaw the ceremony naming Mamie Williams as Noble Grand, Virgie Guild as Vice Grand, Bertha Vaillencour as Secretary, Elizabeth Baker as Treasurer.
The Department aims to preserve Nevada heritage by issuing a pioneer history survey, marking landmarks with monuments, and compiling a practical state history. Clubs should name Nevada authored books or stories, consult the chairman, and request help from Mr Layman Librarian at the University.
Governor Boyle plans a one day special session on February 7 to ratify the federal suffrage amendment. He seeks assurances from legislators and Nevada women that costs stay under 1000 dollars. A Reno delegation and Carson City women push for support and free lodging for members at the capital. The call could be issued January 28 if not delayed.
The notice lists services at 10:00 for Sunday School and 1:00 PM preaching by Rev. John FF. Wilerson, District Superintendent, with an address at Wabushe and a lecture on "Socialism and the Family." A 7:30 PM midweek service is held at the parsonage and all are invited.

Robert Sloan holds the contract and is drilling four wells to boost the city water supply. Jacke Ross assists Sloan locating the right site. Initial strata tests show the first well promising, with expectations of a substantial increase in yields.
A cooperative flour mill to be named Associated Farmers Mill & Feed Company may open by October first with a 500 barrel daily capacity. Key early investors include Frank Bovard Clark J. Guild M. R. Penrose C. M. Coddington and others. Ten thousand dollars has been raised with minimal effort. The venture aims to market wheat locally and spur crop profits, owned by farmers as patrons under a cooperative model inspired by Ogden based Fred Wicks and partners. Vic, a former Yerington resident, is connected with Lyon County Bank and helps guide the project.
The Lyon County Board of Health urges immediate vaccination to protect children and the community from small pox. It notes vaccination prevents the disease, argues for school districts to vaccinate all pupils at once, and calls on parents to ensure their children are protected.
The Women's Club met on a Saturday session with Mrs J F MekKay presiding. Anna Baker Y W C A state chairwoman from Row Miss Baker gave an inspiring talk to entertain and inform the club. Refreshments were provided by Mrs H B Wall and Miss Mildred Whitman.
Mrs Clark Guild hosted a social evening with card games and conversation. Judson Smith won top honors in both activities as guests enjoyed an elaborate menu. Present were Mr and Mrs Wendall Go Churchyard, Mr and Mrs Charles Melwood, Mr and Mrs John Beauport, Mr and Mrs Jank Fowler, Mr and Mrs OA, Mrs James Kelly, Mere James Barton, Miss Elizabeth Baker, Judson Smith, and Neil McLeod.
The girls basketball team left this morning for Gardnerville to play the local high school. They have trained steadily and aim to win. Lineup includes Beatrice Thrailkill and Leite Beaman forwards, Edna McMillan and Lucille Wishart centers, Margaret Borge and Ruth Riggs guards, Rose Patterson as substitute. Miss Agnes Constable coaches.
Charles Phillips returned Saturday night from Ingall California after a month away. P T Cook travels to Reno Tuesday then to San Francisco on business. Mr and Mrs R L Waggoner visited Mason on Thursday. Annie and Amelia Petrovich improved from pneumonia. Mrs J A Summers and Mrs J Goldsworthy hosted Bluestone friends Wednesday. Mattie Pugh welcomed home after a weekend with W A Day. Mrs William Baker visited her son Dr Baker in Ur Mien Vreitas, recovering from a broken leg. Wood Day and R M Ridder hosted a Silver Tea for Mason Church Aid Society at Mrs Kidler’s home with sewing and conversation and dainty refreshments. J E Beaupert and Edward visited friends Sunday. Ethel Tant was a weekend guest of her parents in Yeringter. Joseph Av Owells arrived Friday night and joined Copper Belt Warden Slenick and Wim. Greenwood, in charge of the prison commissary, was in Mason purchasing supplies. DK Ericson of Reno visited Mason. he represents Union Oil. J T Poyd of Goldfield has hosted with C I Shirt. Miss Lillian Murphy visits brother Ae Chisholm and James Murphy.
A lively crowd attended the Yerington versus Virginia game at Rink Hall last Saturday. Yerington lost 33 to 10 but showed effort despite weak teamwork. Virginia City had strong play and many fans. Next, Yerington hosts Virginia City at Armory on Friday January 23 with a social dance to follow.
The Red Cross in Yerington expands home hygiene training with three classes at the Leavitt Building and public invites for women to join. The Modern Health Crusade runs in county schools with full enrollment and youth health habits emphasized. Boy Scout troops form in Yerington Fernley Dayton with American Legion support, seeking equipment funds via county subscription to equip all units and avoid inequity.
