Kennedy Con. Jumped at Buckskin mine in Buckskin District
A Buckskin mining crew including Ed Mollart jumped the Kennedy Consolidated mine on the first of the month. The Kennedy Con. copper and gold property was early located in Buckskin and ownership rests with Senator Pitt of Lovelock Campbell and Kennedy. The owners have bonded and work has been done toward patenting seven claims. Pending patent status may affect annual work requirements for 1910. Senator Pitt visited the mine this week amid assurances of no trouble holding the property, while a farewell gathering for the Senator and Mrs. Reymers occurred at their home. Also reported is the death of Mr. J. Lockwood of Auburn, Cal., a former partner of Mr. Davidson, with funeral arrangements noted.

Veterinary Investigator Seeks Cause of Fatal Horse Disease
Veterinary Mack from the Agricultural Department College Reno arrived last week to study a deadly horse illness in the East Walker River area. He performed post mortems with no significant findings and doubts spinal meningitis. One sick horse improved after treatment. owners like Charlebois, Kaufman, Bertrand, and Snyder fear further losses totaling thousands. Mack will continue study to diagnose and find a remedy, noting a similar unknown disease harming dairy cows in Washoe Valley.

Death of E. J. Rule and local Lodge notes
E J Rule a mining man formerly confined in Yerington Hospital died last Saturday night at age 55. He helped locate Back Skin camp and worked with R R Spiva on promising prospects. A Californian native, Rule’s funeral was arranged by local Elk and Riks members. His brother C H 8 Rule and daughter Miss Gladys Rule arrived from Jenner California to attend. Yerington Aerie No 1696 installed officers Friday night and held a long social dance, with light refreshments and much revelry.

Farming Near Buckskin Sees Land Taken for Irrigation
W H Burton from Buckskin reports rapid land uptake south of Buckskin between the dry alkali lake in Smith Valley and the Buckskin camp. Artesian water pockets appear south of the flat. Joe Meyertholen has a flowing well north of it at 92 feet. A 140 foot test north of the flat shows potential for a gusher, signaling a thriving farming community near Buckskin. Mrs Mary Hoye of Wellington, ill recently, improves slowly with nurse Miss Price tending her.

Official Mason Valley mine reports show a new ore body on the 3rd level in the southeastern part of the mine. The crosscut eastward revealed a sizable shoot developed north and south with ore grades around 3.0 to 3.5 percent copper. For the week to Dec 24, 1910, north drift yielded 43 cars at 3.53% copper. south drift produced 78 cars at 2.57% and 323 cars at 3.24%, averaging 3.1% for the southerly direction. A winze station is being sunk below No 4 level, with a crosscut planned to reach the ore bodies and drifting to begin. The new deeper level will lie 150 feet below No 4, becoming the mine's deepest level.

Hogs Shipments From Valley Grow With Rail Help
I A Strosnider sent a carload of hogs to Nevada Packing Co in Reno last week and another to Goldfield Meat Co on the 12th. A third carload will go to Nevada Packing Co on the 20th, clearing most stall lots. Prices lately have been six and a half cents, enough to profit from Valley hogs as Copper Belt Railroad expansion boosts shipments of hogs, cattle and hay. Farmers expect rising production as service improves.

Pioneer Uncle Billy Wilson Dies in Pine Grove
Nevada pioneer by the Pine Grove mining era, William Wilson died Wednesday at his Pine Grove home after a two week illness. Born 1826 in Ohio, he came to California in 1849 and Nevada in 1859, partnering in Virginia City mines with Charlie Wallace, and later ran the Wilson ranch in Mason Valley. He helped found the famed Wilson mines in Pine Grove and lived in Carson City from 1878 until his death, survived by his widow Line Wilson and daughters Mertin and Lamkin, with many relatives in Mason Valley and beyond. He was buried yesterday at the Carson City Methodist church, in the family plot at the local cemetery.
