A local plea argues Lyon county needs a bigger high school to accommodate growth and an agricultural program. Pohe, Ross and the Dickey brothers hold a lease on the Capt. Shay copper property in the ickskin district. They have a cross-cut about 100 feet from the bottom of the 100 foot shaft and are tapping ore to reach a surface cropping of rich ore. A 25 hp caseline hoist was installed about two months ago and has operated continuously since.

On New Year’s Day Mr Dellamonica, his wife, and baby were riding from the ranch toward Yerington when the horse bolted. The buggy struck a post at Peart Street corner, throwing the occupants. His fortune ran into several millions.
J O Parker sold the Model Meat Market to Prank and Will Freeman on the first of the year. The Freeman brothers have leased the building from E J Ross and will run the shop at the same location to offer the best meats. Parker will enter the ranch business in the lower end s of the valley.
A long local opinion urges Nevada farmers to back Fallon sugar beet operations to keep the plant from moving to Michigan. It argues Nevada beets yield the finest sugar and high per acre profits, warning that losing the plant would hurt agricultural resources and deter future investment, urging Churchill Lyon Washoe and Humboldt counties to supply enough beets to sustain the factory.
The McConnell property resumes ore shipments this week with teams hauling ore to the railroad. A survey will begin immediately for a two mile tramway from the mine to a canyon spur of the Copper Belt road, under construction soon. The tramway and spur will greatly ease transportation as owners plan large scale development.
The old town once deserted is revived by a new strike at Rochester. Southern Pacific opens an agent station and a restaurant lodging house, plus an auto line linking Oreana to Rochester nine miles away. If Rochester grows, Oreana becomes the natural shortest outlet to the railroad.
