Leavitt Home Hosts Birthday Party by Ladies Aid

Mrs. Br Leavitt was honored Thursday afternoon February 8 at her Yerington home by the Ladies Aid with cheerful congratulations music and social chat. Guests showered her with small gift packets during lunch and later as refreshments were served a further outpouring of good wishes was extended. Leavitt, a longtime resident and active lodge and church worker, is praised for her quiet demeanor and strong executive ability and the community wishes her long and happy life.

Automobile Blaze Near Mason After Dance Trip

A party from Yerington returning from a Mason dance had their car stuck in marl just past Mason. Gasoline leaked and an attempted exit caused a flare that ignited the tank, swiftly burning the woodwork. The car owned by George Pringle and driven by Frank Estes was badly damaged. wrecker later brought it to Yerington with hopes of repair.

Magistrate J. G. Young Hurt After Haystack Fall

Wavuska magistrate J. G. Young suffered a painful accident Sunday evening when he fell about fifteen feet from a hay-stack. He struck his left arm and shoulder, bruising and swelling noted, but no bones are believed broken. He was jarred and sore overall, with no serious injuries anticipated.

Happy Valentine Day Wedding of Popular Couple

The marriage of Miss Queen Wilson of Nenlyke to Mr. H. Claude Dukes of Oakland California was celebrated at the bride’s parents home the Old Wilson Home Ranch on St Valentine’s Day at noon. Guests arrived about 11 and the ceremony proceeded with The Bridal Chorus. The bride wore white sate with pearl trimmings and a wreath of roses. After the ring ceremony the couple left for Oaklands and then Ludwig for their honeymoon with the Dukes’ relatives. Many Wilson and McGowan families attended.

Triple Birthday Party at Hernleben Home

In Yerington at the home of Mrs Hernleben a triple birthday party celebrated Mrs Hernleben Mrs KR D Smith and Miss Vera Snyder. About twelve invited grew to around fifty as friends arrived with needlework. A turkey luncheon and two birthday cakes baked by Mrs John Snyder and Miss Evelyn Snyder completed the festive afternoon.

Tank and Tower Arrive for Yer ington Water Plant

The steel tank and tower for the Yer ington water system arrived from Chicago on Monday, two cars totaling over 40 tons. Construction will start after the foundation is ready as Chicago Bridge & Iron Works furnishes the tower, with Grant of American Light & Water Co assembling rock and cement. Engineer Barclay laid out the foundation and excavation is underway, with two carloads of pipes arriving yesterday and remaining material expected soon.
