Lieutenant Roxie Moore Dies in Germany from Pneumonia
Mrs. J. T. Moore received a War Department telegram confirming the death of Lieutenant Roxie P. Moore in Nieuweid Germany on January 20th from pneumonia. Born June 8 1892 in Astoria Illinois he enlisted July 18 1917 from Lyon County and served in France with the Second Division before his death. He was lauded for bravery during a fire scene in a motor repair shop and survived by his family and community.

Serious Accident to James Carr at Warren Ranch
James Carr, employee at Harry R. Warren's ranch, injured starting a kettle fire. A powder cap exploded striking his right eye. He was taken to town for treatment and later planned to see a Reno specialist on the 24th. eye prognosis was uncertain.

Banner Ranch to import Shire horse and Holstein herd
Geo W Friedoff, manager, left Monday to pick up a $5,000 imported Shire horse bought from George Wingfield and bring a carload of registered Holstein cattle for the dairy being built at the Banner Ranch. The ranch will phase out the old mixed herd and feature only registered stock to boost dairy prospects, hoping nearby farmers adopt similar practices.

Lieut Willis Receives War Department Commendation
Lieutenant W. W. Willis youngest brother of Mrs J J Wilson and the Willis brothers, has a letter of commendation from the Secretary of War for courageous action when the Ophir burned in Gibraltar harbor. Fire aboard the ship involved TN T L and gasoline as crew fought flames for days. The crew crawled through port holes after deciding safety was required. Meagher Dies After Illness in Reno
James FE Meagher husband of Mary Meagher of Reno died yesterday morning in a local hospital after a long illness. He recently moved to Reno from Mason where he ran a ranch and bought the Walton Hotel on Plaza Street. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at o o'clock a high mass for the repose of his soul at St Thomas Aquinas. Interment will follow in St Thomas cemetery. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Francis Meagher of Reno. He was a member of the Yerington Aerie F O E and a native of Nevada at 52.
