Clarence Wise, a Mason Valley native aged 34, died in Latapie Canyon seven miles west of the Salles brothers ranch when a wagon loaded with wood tipped over. O'Brien, a companion, freed Wise with a chain and horse aid. coroner Dr. Leavitt found neck fracture caused instant death. A Phipps undertaking funeral is planned for the afternoon.
