The ninth annual three day trap shooting tournament in Visalia California drew ninety contestants in 200 target events for professionals and amateurs. Rockland Mine Falls Into Bankrupt Court Proceedings
The Rockland mine located 27 miles south of Yerington in Mineral County has closed and its affairs are in bankruptcy. The trustee is ordered to sell the property to satisfy about 550,000 in indebtedness. Eastern stockholders refusal of a 125,000 voluntary assessment for new surface equipment precipitated the bankruptcy. The mine has produced over 700,000 in gold and silver, with 350,000 earned by the Rockland itself. Equipment included electric power from Truckee river, a compressor plant, hoist, surface buildings, and a 60 ton cyanide mill. Disagreements among eastern stockholders led to suits, a failed compromise, and eventual bankruptcy petition. Local operations suffered payroll and development shortfalls as funds ran low.
