Yerington Girl Victim of Fiendish Assault
Miss Gallagher, a Jerome Arizona teacher born in Yerington, was attacked in a Jerome restaurant when Irene Hopkins poured carbolic acid into a tumbler and rubbed it into Gallagher s eyes. Hopkins was restrained and later arrested after threats against Copper Company officials were revealed. Gallagher is expected to recover with only facial scarring. Hopkins faced charges in Prescott.

Clara Boeckman returned from California where she had been for health. A G Sturgeon and family spent the weekend at Sweetwater and residents John Moore and Isabel moved back to Mason after ten months away. Several local men attended a Masonic ceremony at Fernie. J B Carroll returned from California. The strike by Thomas and Dailey in Mason Pass continues to improve and points to a possible mine.

Men at Work on Topaz Lake
The Broderick and Clock began a temporary inlet to convey water from the Walker River into Topaz Lake as a sub-contract from Redmond and Page. A permanent inlet will be built to carry the entire flow and new water of the river, while work on a new lakeshore road proceeds as the old road will be inundated. Carpenters will start work on the camp later this week.

The high school faculty hosted the Parent-Teachers Association last Tuesday with talks on commercial subjects, dramatics, athletics, and a pressure cooker demonstration. Friday night a high school carnival will raise funds for boys and girls basketball. The event features a fish pond, confetti, and serpentine, a performance by Kara the Egyptian seer, Hollywood actresses, spring flowers, gypsy songs, hot dogs and cake, a side show with a four-eyed baby, and dancing after ten. Pioneer George P. Plummer of Mason Valley Dies in Yerington
George Howe Plummer died at his Yerington home on April 3 1921 at 9 50. He was born February 9 1848 in Searsport Maine and traveled from Maine to California via the Isthmus of Panama. He helped build the Tunnel ditch later adopted George Plummer Jr. and the Plummer name figures in Nevada irrigation. He became totally blind in 1914 after progressive eye disease and had long served as a steady upholder of law and order in Mason Valley region. He leaves a wife Louise Wilson Plummer and a grown family.
