Death of Pred Bailey in hillside tunnel cave in Seattle
Little Fred Bailey age 11 son of Mr and Mrs Charles F Bailey formerly of this place died when a hillside tunnel near 1047 Belmont place collapsed. His playmate Lester Boyd escaped with bruises after friends rescued him. Rescuers worked two hours to revive Bailey but he did not respond. Funeral held Sunday at Lake View cemetery.

Robbery at Barton Hardware Stolen Goods and Police Report
Thieves broke into D. R. Barton’s Second street hardware store Saturday night taking about 75 dollars of goods. Items included Winchester shotgun, 40 65 Winchester rifle, cutlery, braces, shaving supplies, tools and more with scattered stock. no clues found. Sunday two pen knives found near O. K. livery stable. City Marshal Boyle reports a self sustaining department with 91 arrests, fines totaling 372.25, and plans to hire more officers. Also notes a 1901 Seattle area marriage, Indian murder hearing with no linkage, Iowa potato prices, and editor taunts from local papers.
