Hops Prices Influence West Coast Trade Prospects

Hops harvest near, prices around 2 to 22 cents a pound, roughly double opening season levels. Washington expects 34 000 to 35 000 bales this year versus 30 000 to 31 000 last year, with strong grower profits if yields hold. Past volatility caused yard closures, yet ten year averages of 10 to 12 cents yield steady profits for efficient growers. West Coast Trade reports the market could reach near 100 000 bales if prices stabilized.
