First Woman On Nob Hill Pioneer in Yakima Holds Ditch Vision
Mrs. E A Hubbard, nicknamed Grandma Hubbard, is hailed as the first white woman to settle Nob Hill in Yakima. Her husband spearheaded the Cowiche and Naches ditch project, and she recalls crossing the plains, locating on Nob Hill, and early hard times water from the Ahtanum, trenching the hillside, and rabbits eating the first garden after water arrived.

Water Wheel Delays Delay Irrigation Elevation at Grandview
Engineer Noble awaits the water wheel needed to lift water to 400 acres above Grandview. A wheel bought in the east shipped west vanished. a second wheel passed St Paul on April 28 and has not yet arrived but is expected daily. Wheel Thefts Hit City In Six Week Crackdown
Police report a six week wave of bicycle thefts in the city with about fifty wheels stolen. Most losses are unsound or attributed to absent minded owners. Several bikes vanished from the Y M C A wheel rack and near the post office. Authorities suspect an organized gang operations and recall a prior case where a west side gang hid stolen wheels to conceal ownership.
North Yakima Loses Out on Electric Interurban Plan
Chas. F. Bailey of Granger urged that North Yakima delayed electric road building in Yakima valley. He warned steam lines would route towns like Sunnyside and Toppenish to growth in the lower valley, predicting Granger as the future center while North Yakima lags.

Riches Found in Abandoned Mine in Mexico
In Hermosillo on May 8 a syndicate of Americans and Mexicans revealed a vast ore deposit worth over 1 million dollars at the Babisonora silver mine in the Sierra Madre.
