Great Big Irrigation Scheme In The Air
A new company has filed articles of incorporation to study a large canal project in Yakima and Kittitas counties. The plan envisions a 500000 acre irrigation system fed by big lakes with three engineering teams surveying water supply ditch lines and siphon construction. Backers include L A Nares of San Francisco and H S Judson of St Paul, with Edward Whitson named president.

Mr and Mrs Dan Arnold entertained a crowd of young people at their home on north Second street Tuesday evening July 21 A cooling breeze made the night ideal The affair was described as the most completely successful in the city The event featured Fan Tan prizes for ladies and gentlemen plus booby prizes Tele gram contest winner Miss Ethel Larsen formed the most unique telegram from the words Yon shema The event had a Japanese theme with two lit punk girls hairdos lanterns and a magnifi cent umbrella Prizes were awarded by Mrs Arnold and aides including Mrs J B Burns and Mrs George Gandy The invited list included numerous Misses and Messrs including Susie Erwin George Donald jr M Tarter Virginia Coburn and others with families and guests extending the social circle.

Mrs H H Lombard entertained at her north Second street home last Friday night honoring visitors Miss Grayson Price and Miss Sor Porter of Olympia. About twenty couples attended and enjoyed refreshments. T L Masters arrived from Goldendale reporting the fall grain in his area is good while spring seeding will yield about two thirds.
