Northern Pacific Sees Strong Business Despite Equipment Shortage
G. A. Mitchell, assistant general passenger agent, says Northern Pacific business from St. Paul is markedly better this year with heavier northwest traffic and packed trains. He cites delayed locomotive deliveries from builders as the main reason for equipment lack, noting orders placed in 1905 and 1906 are still arriving now. The issue, he adds, is common to multiple locomotive suppliers with enough orders to cover four to five years.
