President Taft’s message to Congress urges fortifying the Panama Canal with a 19 million dollar appropriation and advances tariff and anti injunc tion laws. He backs permanent tariff board schedule by schedule revisions and calls for more navy ships and new banking system while trimming current expenditures.
Investigators’ Ballinger Pinchot committee finishes its majority report. The document will be submitted to the full committee and then to Senator Nelson for reading and eventual submission to both houses of Congress.
Attorney General Wick ersham targets 16 firms and 32 individuals for allegedly combining to control enamel ironware bath tubs sinks and lavatories nationwide. A $7000 fund from an April Mount Clemens meeting funded a plan to restrain trade and fix prices dividing the U S into zones and enforcing uniform contracts to squeeze independent jobbers and manufacturers.
The noon luncheon at the Y M C A auditorium celebrated a $7126 debt canvass total as workers pledge more time to the campaign. Team leaders and members, including Huebner, Giboney, Remy, and Wickersham, are named with their contributions, as the push continues toward the $20 000 goal with four days left.

Mitchell and Son of North Yakima seek to build a local circus building on either the west side near the artesian well or the east side near the new post office site. They own several high school horses and ponies and propose exhibitions and bringing external attractions. The plan includes boxing and wrestling events and other attractions, leveraging a pavilion to house and display trained animals including black horses seen on the streets and a stilt-walking animal.
President Diaz reportedly issued a written order to Governor Sanches of Chihuahua authorizing a peace commission to negotiate with rebels. Attorney J M Gandara served as the channel, carrying Diaz's letter of support for the initiative.

Abramo Mareacci won a 160 acre homestead near Hanford after a late start and a faster final time over Wellington Hawes. The dispute over the four miles of irrigation land concluded on appeal in North Yakima with Mareacci upheld. Hawes received nothing as settlements favored Mareacci's compromise.
The Tieton hotel passes to new management, C. W. Swanson and D. W. Dillehay of Seattle, who leased and assumed control on December 1. They plan a dining room, lobby and office upgrades, a cigar stand, possibly two extra floors with an elevator, and aim to keep the hotel modern and growing with the city. Louis Plugradt will be day clerk.
London reports at closing polls the house of commons shows liberals in a strong position with 166 seats, coalition 164, laborites 26, nationalists 26, unionists 147. The tide favors liberals though unionists had gained five and reformists may shift one more.
In North Yakima voters show light ballot engagement with about 1209 of 3100 qualified casting ballots. WW H Schott secures mayoralty nearly three to one, while Mull wins Fifth Ward council seat by 28 votes. Ward-by-ward tally lists Schott and opponents across precincts, with totals showing strong support for Schmidt and Mull in several wards.
Two more criminal actions were disposed of in the superior court Tuesday leaving three cases to be disposed of including the trial of Charles Wilson the alleged murderer of Jim Coon. The state against Alfred Payne an Indian alleged to have sold liquor to a brother redskin occupied most of the afternoon session and was given to the jury after 5 pm. Judge Preble adjourned and instructed the jury to return a sealed verdict this morning. Y Machinda a Japanese pleaded guilty to living off earnings of dissolute women and was sentenced to one to five years. Machinda will be taken by immigration authorities and deported after release from Walla Walla prison. In the case against J White accused of larceny from the person the jury found a verdict of guilty after over seven hours. White stole 126 from the purse of a drunken man. During the November term he was convicted of the charge but given a new trial since he was absent at verdict. he has not been sentenced. He was defended by attorney William M. Shewhsen.
