The North Yakima school board authorized 10817.61 to settle district bills last night. Of this total 8408.70 covered teacher and janitor salaries for 97 teachers and 11 janitors, while 2408.91 paid for repairs disinfectants and supplies.
Mia Aletha Wilson is the newly elected school director who will assume duties at the first January meeting, serving a three year term.
The North Yakima area district spent about $100 to elect a new director with eight polling places and only about 650 of roughly 7,000 eligible voters participating. Critics say a special election is unnecessary given low interest and suggest central polling or standard elections like New York cities. Secretary Kumler must follow the law, though it could be amended.
A fire has been burning in the tres tle of the Naches river bridge on the Northern Pacific railway for three or four days. It resists section men efforts to quench it and seems to smoulder among dumped cinders in the bridge approach. No material damage reported yet.
A Wide Hollow rancher found a buck deer in his cattle corral Sunday morning and the animal remains there uninjured. The deer wandered in on its own and may be kept until the rancher decides whether to move it. The game department is likely to request its release under current law.
The Yakima County November expense report compiled by Frank M. Spain shows current expense fund 12553.42, general road and bridge 6147.40, district road distributions totaling 42286.52 across districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, and various line items including significant sums to O W R N for the Union Gap road and Toppenish Parker bridge. Major district work includes Fruitvale oil macadam in District 1 and near completion of the east Yakima bridge in District 2, with labor and material costs noted for each project.
Family of F M Date in Wide Hollow learns of a brother dying in Alaska. The Alaskan party was caught in a storm. three were killed by cold, two severely injured and hospitalized. Telegram confirms death. a fuller letter with details is expected.
Police learned that a dynamite bomb was found in September 1910 at the Roberts Iron and Steel works in Tacoma. Hotel records identified James B. McNamara and Ortie McManigal as guests at the Jaeger hotel the day before the discovery and their departure the day of the find.
Charles MacDonald former head of the Kloeber Holstein herd in Selah valley and later with show herds leaves North Yakima with his family and moves to Whidby Island to supervise Beachview ranch owned by C. J. Griffiths. Beachview supports about 200 dairy cattle and a 300 acre farm.
A large petition from Moxee City leaders urged the county to grant Louis Morgette a pool room license. He will receive the license after posting a $200 bond, despite earlier county rules against granting licenses to nonresidents of incorporated towns. The move reflects changing circumstances.

In session 17 minutes in Washington on December 4 Congress reassembled and inducted two new senators and five new representatives. Representative Littleton delivered a sensational philippic against the American Anti-Trust league, while Republican leader Minin moved for a formal investigation into efforts to smear Littleton. Felice Lyne from Kansas City, barely nineteen, has become a major success in Hammerstein's London opera house. She previously sang in Hans the Flute Player at Manhattan Opera House and signed a five year contract with Hammerstein.
