The lifeless body of Jim Saman Nach, an Indian man, was found near a ditch west of the track after friends carried him to rest off alcohol. An inquest blamed excessive drinking. three men of color and white man were cleared of blame amid testimony from tribal members, saloon workers, and medical examiners.

Elsie Dougherty an 18 year old girl shot herself in the forehead at her home on North Kittytas avenue last Friday about 4 pm dying next morning at 6. The act appears intentional but not clearly premeditated. A preliminary check drawn on her mother’s name led to banking trouble and a saloon ledger entry. After reprimanding Elsie for the check, her mother spoke kindly and the girl then shot herself. A funeral was held Sunday afternoon.
