General Pershing told the House military committee that returning the unknown grave from France for burial in Arlington would be a fitting tribute to the men who fell in the war. The proposal was presented as a national honor and memorial gesture.

Denver February 1 The Queen City Foundry a union shop for 30 years began operating as an open shop under police protection announced by general manager George Cordingly Police guarded the plant to deter disorder but no disturbance occurred Workers refused a wage cut from 1 to 75 cents an hour and were given until Monday to accept the new scale Some returned to work and a new force was organized with about 209 men expected to be on duty soon
A 96 page insurance bill may be withdrawn by its sponsors and a simpler substitute could take its place. An insurance specialist from the east arrives in Cheyenne to confer with locals on framing a new bill.
City and county officials resist House Bill 71 aiming to delay tax payments in semi annual installments. They warn bonds and warrants would fail without timely tax receipts, risking confiscation of property and higher interest costs for city and county alike. The measure, introduced by Representative Allison, faces opposition in the legislature.

Gasoline in Cheyenne fell from 35 cents to 33 cents at city garages and stations. Nearby cities report cheaper fuel with Greeley at 20 to 32 cents and Denver at 31 cents with some 30 cent underselling. Some motor oil prices declined from 3 to 5 cents per quart due to lower crude oil costs.
Mrs Eliza beth Flockhart aged 33 was badly burned today when a can used to revive a fire exploded. She was encased in flames and ran to the porch where neighbors found her and aided her.
Partly cloudy conditions persist in Cheyenne and vicinity with cooler temperatures tonight and Wednesday. The low tonight is expected around 14 degrees, signaling a sharp chill as the area braces for a colder spell through midweek.
Peter Panos and his red automobile faced trial before Police Judge Swainson on prohibited liquor charges. The cut leaves prices near prewar levels with possible further reductions hinted.
Los Angeles February 1 The district attorney announced plans to call several of the state’s strongest witnesses today against Mrs Louise L Peete in the murder case of J C Denton The lineup includes W C Doran chief deputy district attorney investigator Charles Jones detective Miss H Bamb detective Warden Woolward and Alvah M Robhien reporters.
In Council Bluffs Iowa on February 1 Miss Alice Hatch aged 28 killed herself by leaping from a street car bridge into the Missouri River. She died from injuries and was dead when recovered. ill health is given as the cause.
Chicago police report a dozen robbers struck the Kenwood Trust and Savings Bank on the south side just after 9 a m. They escaped with a sum totaling about $30,000 according to officials.
Tas Obie Oil announces price reductions across Wyoming fields Grass Creek and Elk Basin by 2.25 dollars, Big Muddy 1.90, Tance Creek 2.20, Rock Creek 2.00, Mule Creek 1.40 per barrel, effective today in Laramie.
Los Angeles February 1 a special squad of deputies and reserves guarded the county jail after Floyd L Carr and Arthur W Carr cousins pleaded guilty to kidnapping Mrs Gladys Witherell. Authorities feared violence in Hollywood as sentencing looms tomorrow the defense seeks mitigating circumstances and to show Mrs Witherell unharmed. Pass Harbor Bill and return from St Louis follow.
