Mayor William A. Ryan proposed a township census to reveal conditions and aid the relief unit. He will name volunteers to survey the township, collect family data, employment status, citizenship, and dependents, and identify who can donate weekly or offer work.
Floyd T. Howell led the Middlesex hotel meeting where the Rotary Club proposed August F. Grenner as president for 1933 34 and announced candidates for vice president Ray Jackson secretary John E. Breckenridge treasurer Floyd T. Howell. Breckenridge and Howell expect reelection. John H. Love and Hugh Tompkins named to the board.
Parsons addressed the Colonia PTA at its regular meeting this week. Traffic Sergeant Benjamin Parsons spoke on the subject Safety Patrol.
Supervising Principal John H. Love states teachers have kept the schoolhouse open and urge residents to accept township bonds. He invites cash redemption, directing interested citizens to contact any school principal or the supervising principal to be connected with those wishing to cash bonds.
Woodbridge Merchants Association votes to accept township issued baby bonds for municipal employees. Members prefer credit certificates usable for purchases, though funding is tight. A. J. Sabo of State Theatre offers to cash a ten dollar bond for five dollars in theatre tickets. The group pledges support for teachers police officers and other staff.
Funeral services were held for Jacob A Floersch of Elm Street Forda. Mass was said at St Mary’s Church with Rev Paul Fairbrother officiating. Interment followed in St Mary’s Cemetery. Bearers were Harold Slover Edward Slover Stephen Blandor and Anthony Galgani.
Members of the Sodality of St. James church will receive communion in a body at the eight o'clock mass on Sunday. The regular monthly meeting is set for Monday at eight, following the spiritual session. A sketch titled The Broken Engagement will be performed by Misses Margaret McDonald Blanche Crowe Ethel Sullivan Mary Peer Catherine Giacolone Rosemary Gels Helen Crowe after the meeting. all members and prospective members are invited.
A regular meeting of the Women’s Club will be held next Thursday at the Craftsmen’s Club. Frank Howard Lloyd of Matawan will speak on Significant Current Topics and their relation to Civics. The Civics department, chaired by Mrs. I. T. Spencer, will manage tea.

Funeral services for William T. Ames age 64 were held at his Sewaren home after a lingering illness. Interment was in Linden Cemetery. Bearers named Raymond W. Miller H Turner D B Rush M J Demarest B T Howell and Frank L. Vincent. Ames was active in many civic and fraternal groups and chaired the local Liberty Loan drive in World War I. He was born February 12 1869 in Woodbridge and graduated Woodbridge High School class of 1887.
Miss Mary I Gardner executive secretary of the relief administrative body spoke to the Woodbridge Lions at the Gray Log Cabin Monday night. She outlined the relief process from home visitor to budget and payment, praising volunteers for their service to Woodbridge Township residents.
The proclamation urges Woodbridge Township merchants landlords lenders and taxpayers to use baby bonds of ten and twenty five dollars to liquidate taxes and school obligations. It promotes paying 1933 taxes early offers six percent discount for prepayment and notes a sinking fund to cover maturities and appeal to pay delinquent taxes promptly to preserve outsiders faith in the township.
Iselin hosts a St Patrick’s frolic at Public School No 15 auditorium led by St Cecelia’s Church Men’s Club to benefit the church. Forty involved performers directed by Rev William Brennan with songs, sketches and dances. program features Irish melodies, solos by Maher Hockenbrach Cole and a grand chorus.
The pageant and Sleeping Beauty play have been approved for a Woodbridge High School performance. Umpires of the Woodbridge horse will oversee the event set for Saturday afternoon March 25. The show aims to entertain children.
St James auditorium hosts a monster card party and dance under Middlesex Council Knights of Columbus. John J. Ryan Jr reports attractive prizes for high card scores and door prizes. Refreshments to be served.
Woodbridge Township Committee unanimously approves a resolution to issue 75000 in tax revenue bonds dated March 16 1933 due June 15 1939 with 3 percent interest to fund salaries in municipal and school systems and to redeem bonds on due date. merchants lenders and associations urged to accept bonds in lieu of payments.
The committee revised the $933 township budget at an adjourned session at the Memorial Municipal Building. A hearing on changes will be held March 27. Items eliminated include hydrant service and tax collection reserves. deficits and bond expenses were adjusted and Langan Gels contracted for garbage pick up at $6,000, with Navdk’s bid rejected for noncompliance.
The township Red Cross distributed seven carloads of flour and 19 000 yards of materials, clothing, and furniture to the needy this winter. The report credits Mrs A F Randolph, Dr J T Spencer, Mrs L Reynolds, John Hi Concannon, and Mrs A L Huber, with volunteers aiding daily operations. Aid centers in the township served residents from Avenel, Port Reading, Sewaren and Woodbridge, with clothing donations and new garments prepared by volunteers and organizations.
