Township Attorney Henry Lavin outlined a five year plan for delinquent taxes at a Monday Township Committee meeting in the Memorial Municipal Building. He said the plan, promoted by Newark as political expediency, fails to work both ways and hinges on timely payment of 1933 taxes.
Community leaders discuss allowing Woodbridge taxpayers to settle overdue taxes over five years at 7 percent interest. Residents say many are unemployed and unable to pay even small amounts, despite relief efforts and reduced rates. Rotary Club volunteers to supervise July August playgrounds.

Police Chief James Catano urges a safe and sane Fourth of July program in Woodbridge with strict supervision and responsible handling of fireworks. He cites the National Society for Prevention of Blindness, noting hundreds of injuries to children and dozens becoming blind yearly from fireworks accidents.
The State Emergency Relief Committee will provide two supervisors for recreational work in the Township. John K. Breckenridge announced at a Woodbridge Rotary Club meeting that the state will pay for the supervisors. A committee led by George R. Merrill was formed to assist, including John B. Love and Hampton Cutter, to address the recreational task while avoiding conflicts with Rotarians overseeing Pearl Street playgrounds.
Henry Karzeniewski, attendant at his mother’s gas station, suffered severe facial and band injuries when a gum rubber laden truck caught fire while fueling. The truck owned by Leon ard Bros of Greenburg PA and driven by Clinton Hayes ignited as he began to fill the tank.
Patsy Sourpat a 43 year old attendant at an Avenel service station was hit by a Great Eastern Stages Inc bus driven by Frank Crandall of Philadelphia on Sunday at 4 30 pm. He suffered injuries to his right arm and left knee and was transported to Rahway Memorial Hospital by police ambulance. Patrolman Jack Manton investigated the collision.
Middlesex County Press Club members meet at Woodbridge for preparations to travel to Atlantic City after Labor Day. James P. Nolan names Elmer J. Veesey Arthur Larson and Charlie Anderson to arrange the trip and events at Fritz Hofbrau.
The long awaited baseball clash between Brownies and Doughboys is slated for Tuesday afternoon July 4 at Grove Street diamond. Both teams claim supremacy and predict victory as Township fans brace for a hard fought game and a large crowd.
Michael Goulden a real estate broker formerly of Woodbridge now at 1 Albermare Street Habway was held on $1000 bail for the Grand Jury by Judge B W Vogel in police court on embezzlement charges. The plaintiff in the case is John Dickson of 248 Woolidge Avenue Woodbridge.
Legislature approves a measure allowing New Jersey to accept 12.199 million in Delaware River Bridge bonds in lieu of cash. Proceeds may fund 9 million to clear delinquent teacher salaries and reduce a 4.221 million loan from the state teachers pension fund, with distribution potentially benefiting Woodbridge Township teachers. The plan requires reciprocal Pennsylvania approval before taking effect.
John Love quits after 38 years of service in the township school system. He refuses to comment until action by the Board of Education, though he plans to issue a statement later. He has led much of the system’s growth.

St James Parish welcomed Rev C A Dustin new curate of St James Church replacing Rev Charles Sutton at a reception in St James school auditorium Monday night Dustin from Troy New York was ordained weeks ago in New York City. Jacob W Grausam opened with a welcome on behalf of parishioners and speeches were given by the pastor Rev Francis X Langan Rev John Larkin and others. Dustin replied gratefully and was presented with a basket of flowers. The program featured songs and a vent recital by Miss Mary Naher Miss Mary Turke and others.
A jury in the circuit court awarded Alice Sandahl of Woodbridge ten thousand dollars against Nicholas Meola of Lyndhurst. Judge Adrian Lyon presided with Assistant Prosecutor James Wight and George L. Burton representing the defendant. The plaintiff was a rear passenger injured when a truck struck lumber protruding from the defendant’s vehicle on April 11, 1931.
