Stunt Kills Chute Jumper At Airport
Franklin Crasto 22, a parachute jumper, died after a backwards jump from a plane at Lake Avenue airport in ITsella Sunday. He failed to pull the ripcord at 500 feet, causing a somersault and chute failure. Crasto, of Church Place near Orange, worked in Bamberger's sports department and was one of six jumpers in the contest aboard NC619M operated by Atlantic Air Service.

John J. Powers of 311 Multon Street Woodbridge died at home after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at his house then St. James Church with Mayor William A. Ryan among the pallbearers. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery. Powers lived in Woodbridge 40 years and belonged to the Catholic Benevolent Legion. Survived by wife Margaret two daughters Mrs. James W.
