Woodbridge American Legion Post 87 plans a Washington centennial pageant to portray local scenes. Historians from Metuchen Perth Amboy and nearby towns will guide the event with plans for costumes and staged episodes from 1777 including Washingtons retreat and Woodbridge troops.
County detectives with local police raided two speakeasies on Wednesday in Woodbridge and Sewaren. At Woodbridge, Charles Wargyas was bail‑bound for grand jury on liquor charges after authorities seized intoxicating liquor. In Sewaren, Paul Turek faced possession charges as officers continued a countywide clean‑up drive.

The Drump Corps of Woodbridge Post American Legion rehearses Tuesday and Friday at School No 11 in preparation for events. A major contest is set for May 15 in West New York New Jersey with total prizes of 1200 dollars. Members may join by contacting Commander William Holohan or Drum Major Vincent Weaver.
One man was seriously injured when a Somerset Rubber Reclamation Works car collided with a Bush Haulage Co. truck at the Avenel Street and super highway junction in Newark. Irving Lawrie of Highland Park suffered fractures and gashes and was taken to Perth Amboy General Hospital.
Voters go to the polls tomorrow in Woodbridge and neighboring districts for fire district elections. Incumbents seek re election to fire boards and commissioners in Woodbridge Hopelawn Keasbey and other zones with budgets outlined, including expenses, trucks and smoke masks.
Over 1500 dollars in 1932 taxes have been paid this week under the six per cent advance payment plan. Township tax collector C A Larson said the response is very encouraging and many more taxpayers are urged to take advantage of the offer.

Funeral services for Mrs Mary Rees wife of Patrick Murtagh of Jeancourt Woodbridge were held Monday morning from her residence followed by a solemn requiem Mass at St James church at 4 pm Rev Charles Sutton celebrated. Interment followed in St James Cemetery. Bearers were William D Casey John Donohue Patrick Cassidy Michael Conde James Leddy and Thomas Devereau.
A new social club named the eleven club was formed February 11 at the Candy Kitchen area on Main Street. Eleven charter members were elected to offices including President Walter Jordan and Treasurer Michael Shannon, with others like Harvey Romond and Leon Jordan joining the roster.
D A R Janet Gage chapter held an Open meeting at First Presbyterian Church. D A R member Kalteissen spoke on George Washington with praise for his leadership and faith. The next meeting is set for March 21 at Mrs Anthony Cristauls Red Bank home. the chapter will mark its eighth birthday and discuss forming a Children of the Revolution chapter. Catherine Olbrick of Woodbridge was named a finalist in NY Mirror beauty competition.
The Township Committee of Woodbridge New Jersey invites sealed bids by 3 30 PM at the Memorial Municipal Building on February 23 1932 for one police patrol ambulance with a six cylinder engine four main bearings one 144 ton truck chassis with ken bearings fuel floating rear axle and related fittings. The committee may reject any or all bids.
A new bus line will begin Sunday February 24 linking Elizabeth Rahway Woodbridge and Perth Amboy via combined Elizabeth Rahway bus line No 38. John L O Toole of the Public Service announced the service after approval by the Public Utility Commissioners.
A special Board of Education meeting Friday at the High school set a new vote on the manual training budget after a prior defeat of 6500.00. Opponents argue the term included more than woodworking while supporters say the state will match township funds from railroad taxes. Four teachers in domestic science and manual training are listed, and polling will open 7 to 9 PM tomorrow.
Senior class presents Oh Professor tonight at 7 o clock in the high school auditorium on Barron Avenue. The director says it promises to be the best ever seen on the school stage. After the show, dancing in the gym with Harry Brown orchestra providing music.
Funeral services for James J. Geraghty were conducted last week at Our Lady of Peace church Ford with members of the Beanseris Union Holy Name Society San Salvador Council Knights of Columbus No 95 in attendance. Rev Fr C B Reagan officiated a solemn high mass and paid tribute with Fr Paul Fairbrother and Fr Margeruni assisting at Perth Amboy.
Misa Mamie la Bosco of Copper Avenue Iselin reported a theft Friday at her home. A black and green silk dress and a hanger were taken from a clothes line in the backyard valued at seven dollars.
A Board of Education session highlighted that Woodbridge Township spends the least on operating its schools in the area. Prof. John H. Love reported that South Orange costs twice as much, while debate noted higher salaries and supervision in other districts.
Fords Fire Co No 1 presents a School No 14 Ford avenue minstrel to strong audience praise for acts by Ben Jen Monday and Tuesday. Performances include dancing, schtick, parodies, and impressions from Jack Egan and Isidore Meyers.
Steve Mednick a 17 year old from Central avenue Carteret was sentenced to the county workhouse by Judge B W Vogel on petty larceny charges. Public testimony from OM cer Paul Marko of the P and R railroad claimed Mednick and a gang stole coal from railroad property selling it for 25 cents to a dollar per bag and Mednick admitted a prior similar arrest. The judge warned the defendant of further consequences and declared he would be sent to the workhouse.
