A fire of unknown origin damaged two properties on Fulton Street. The vacant two family house at 230 Fulton Street owned by Simon Kahme burned early evening, while a nearby building and a barn containing a Ford sedan owned by Stephen Elek at 9:25 p.m. suffered partial destruction. Woodbridge Fire Company No. 1, led by Chief Louis J. Zehrer, battled the blaze until shortly before 2 a.m. with Elek’s property more successfully saved. Damages: Kahme property about 200 dollars. Bob Robinson Dies in Speedway Crash
Championship racer Bob Robinson, 36, of Benson Springs, AAA, was killed during the 100 lap feature at the local speedway. His car crashed through the rail at the west curve and dropped about 60 feet, with his wife and three year old son watching from a box seat. The collision occurred in the tenth lap as Moore, Frame and ten others were entered. Moore retired with motor trouble, leaving Frame in the lead.
