Grade teachers' 2 day institute at Wolf Point

On Monday and Tuesday October 7 and 8 the Roosevelt county teachers institute was held at Wolf Point. Miss Regina Kohten and Miss Adelaide Dampiere led discussions on arithmetic, picture study and music education. Teachers from districts 1 through 9 attended, including Lucy Wittine, Gertrude Wittine, Annie Gregory, Tine Opheim, Ellen Applegren, Irene McDonald, Hulda Bach, Josephine House, Evelyn Mahlum, Birgit Odden, Edith Ferguson, Osta V. Madsen, Leonard Nelson, Allena B. Teskey, and Dorothy Tuckmann.

New Bridge 15 Still Favorite Tour Spot

With autumn weather and the highway open to traffic hundreds visit the Missouri River bridge east of Wolf Point. Two piers are complete with two more nearing completion. The bridge allows crossing to either side and about 500 people visited last Sunday.

R. J. Moore Buys Liberty Hotel in Havre

Robert J. Moore of Wolf Point purchases the Liberty Hotel in Havre from Louis Bay through Allen Realty Co. The deal includes the building, lots, furnishings and equipment with Moore taking possession. Moore, longtime hotel operator of the Sherman in Wolf Point, plans improvements and aims to provide a high class hostelry.

Visiting Night at City Schools Highlights Community Night

Visiting night at the city schools drew a packed house under Supt Livingston and staff. An hour and a half of recitations opened the program, followed by a senior class presentation in the assembly room, gym stunt program, band music, and a campus fireside gathering with food and dancing, fostering closer ties among teachers, parents, and students.

Assiniboines Adopt Woman Miss Elsie Cannon

Miss Elsie Cannon, who transcribed testimony in a $15,000,000 Indians case, was adopted by the Assiniboine tribe near Wolf Point after finishing her work. The ceremony included a grand dinner, a peace pipe, and a tribal welcome as she became one of the tribe two miles east of Wolf Point. The event followed a ride by plane from Wolf Point to Glendive with pilot Jim Cook, and plans to continue to Washington via Kansas City and Chicago.

First Day Home Club Golf Test Sees Wide Leaderboard

Twenty two players entered the annual Club Golf Tournament and split into two divisions after 9 holes. Leaders include Marron Johnson Burgess and Wamsley in Division One and Livingston Hamblin Foot Camrud Styer and Switzer in Division Two. Remaining players will finish 18 holes next Sunday with elimination matches planned for one oclock.

Federal mill starts plenty work for pray

Nearly 200 cases were pending when federal court opened in Great Falls on Tuesday. A large portion involved liquor law violations. Candidates for arraignment included H. Scobey Prohibition Raids Yield Large Wine Cache

Prohibition officers and Scobey police conducted raids reporting major discoveries of alcohol. A farm north of Scobey yielded 18 barrels of grape wine stored in a straw stack. Dick Juels’s premises were searched with consent and 18 barrels found. An officer also raided a Crawford restaurant alley shack and arrested Lester Flick, while a separate arrest occurred in the northwest part of town.

Glasgow Woman Arrested at Havre

Sheriff Ben Olson received a request from Hill County to arrest Mrs. Mary Harrington of Glasgow on a driving while intoxicated charge in Havre where she collided with another car. She is described as the wife of George Harrington and a young half-breed woman. She was taken to Havre Thursday noon by Hill County officials.
