Conley vindicated in probe by state
The district court of Lewis and Clark county ruled in favor of Frank Conley former warden of the state prison. Judge A J Horshey found all charged acts by Conley and the prison board were authorized and performed in the state’s best interests. The accounting suit with 15 claims totaling about 330000 ends with the state owing Conley 558.06 plus costs.

Week of Society Events Highlight Local Ladies Parties
Mrs A G Hauge and Mrs W E Rae hosted a stylish party with 36 ladies playing progressive Norwegian whist at nine tables from two to five. Prizes went to Mrs Floyd Williams and Mrs EB Bjorgen with Williams taking the high honors. A two course luncheon followed. Catholic Fortnight club held a large whist gathering with 11 tables at Phil Dougherty home. Katherine Murphy led the ladies, E J Cody top among men. A luncheon closed the evening. next meeting set for December 7 at Mrs John Cook’s home. Miss Myrtle Bakken and Miss Beryl Clayton hosted a backward dress whist at Getter residence. Gertrude Dullenty top score, Miss McAleer won best dressed, Miss Bessie Randall least punches. A deli cious luncheon concluded the evening. attendees included Mrs A G Hauge and others. Max J W Hints hosted a card party on Benton Street with prizes awarded and a luncheon served. Little Hazel Qaleman celebrated her fourth birthday with a party Saturday afternoon. games and lunch for neighbors.

Mrs Lizzie H Remley Dead At Vida Farm Home
Mrs Lizzie Helena Remley 55 a longtime Vida community resident died Friday morning at her farm home from heart trouble. Her 12 year old daughter was away at school when found, neighbors and a doctor summoned but she had already passed. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the farm and interment in the rural cemetery near Vida conducted by T M Clayton.

State School Fund Profits by Gas Tax in Montana
A one cent per gallon gasoline tax in Montana has already yielded $270,808 to the state school fund and $185,404 to the state general fund. Treasurer J. W. Walker reports quarterly payments rather than tax due, with 1921 figures showing $52,747 in the first quarter and $28,298 and $62,398 in the last two quarters. For 1922 the receipts were $94,475 in the first quarter, $67,984 in the second, and $100,309 for the quarter ending September 30.

Temporary relief from car shortage in grain deliveries

Carrying weapons leads to two arrests in county courts
Tearley Barvan was arraigned in Judge Gordon's court charged with carrying deadly weapons with intent to assault. Bail set at $1500, bondsman unavailable, jailed awaiting trial. Wesley Landon arraigned in justice court on carrying concealed weapons with intent to assault, pleaded not guilty and posted $1500 cash bond for December 6 trial. Both arrests stem from a Saturday dance at the old Sibbits house near the city.
