District Club Women Hold Convention Here
The Fifth District Convention of Women’s Federated Clubs met in this city last Friday and Saturday with 62 delegates representing twelve of thirteen clubs. A banquet in the Sherman featured toasts on Montana and the West, plus a reception and dancing in Palm Room. Saturday’s sessions at the Presbyterian church included committee reports and a state president address urging expanded public work and child welfare focus.

No. 3 Train Wrecked Near Trenton Sunday
Great Northern passenger train No 3 derailed at the east switch in Trenton North Carolina, 6 PM Sunday, leaving engine and five cars in the ditch. Fireman Ernest Allaby injured, switch left improperly fastened, track cleared after ten hours. train reached Seattle to St Paul route over 17 hours late.

Smith Rooming House Change of Ownership on Main Street
The Smith Rooming House on Main Street changed hands this week as Mr and Mrs G H Ellinghouse transferred management to Frank Covey who arrives from Cuskerton. Covey assumed duties on the 15th. The Ellinghouses run it about two years but retire due to ill health. Mrs Ellinghouse and child go to Chicago to visit a sister for months while Mr Ellinghouse heads to Arizona for the winter. Covey was formerly postmaster at Cuskerton.

Leap Year Dance Draws Thirty Couples at Sherman Palm Room
About thirty couples enjoyed a leap year ball in the Sherman Palm Room last evening. School teachers hosted, with a special orchestra including Erma Small J B Montgomery Vernon DeMars and Ed Krebsbach of Vida. At midnight guests were served brick ice cream heart and diamond shaped sandwiches and cake. Confetti added to the festive mood.
