Third County Farm Conference in Bainville on Nov 20

The third Roosevelt county farm conference will convene at Bainville's Bluebird Theatre on Tuesday November 20 at 10 30 a m. Delegates from every section attend to discuss livestock and dairy issues and a development plan. J C Tretsven will lead the dairy program and D E Richards the livestock program.

Ted Will Fined 300 For Disturbing The Peace

Ted Will appeared before Judge Trudge Gordon on November 9 charged with disturbing the peace. He paid a $300 fine and the case notes his prior capture by Supt. Eggers and deputies near Poplar on November 2 with three ten gallon kegs of contraband liquor in his Chrysler. The vehicle and liquor were seized and Will was held for hearing on $500 bonds. He reportedly bought back the car, totaling over $1,000 in costs for the affair.

Circle Mercantile Announces Reduction Sale in Wolf Point

S. M. Gilbert proprietor of Circle Mercantile Co. was in Wolf Point on Tuesday with Mr. Nelson, a sales manager. They left orders with the Herald for 2000 large sale bills advertising a great reduction sale to be implemented by the Mercantile Co.

State Lands Sold in Roosevelt County Land Auction

I M Brandford secretary of the State Land Board led a Roosevelt county land sale with Leon B Chouquette and Sue McGovern assisting. 2306.77 acres sold for a gross $35026.82 averaging 16.18 per acre. Edgar C Waters of Froid made the top bid at 38.50 per acre for section 16 in township 30 range 56. Brandford traveled from Scobey after a Daniels county sale and headed to Glasgow for another sale.

Local men prepare for womanless wedding December 3 and 4

The Woman's Club sponsors a womanless wedding with 80 local men directed by the Sympson Levie Company from Bradstown Kentucky. A popular comical play draws crowds with 1500 attendees in Glendive and promises wholesome humor and colorful costumes in Wolf Point.

Erratic Rainfall Marks Roosevelt County Season

Reports from ten cooperators show Roosevelt county had one of the most erratic rainfall seasons on record from April to September with a 13.64 inch high at Bainville and 7.45 inches at Lundville. April May under one inch. June July 8.63 inches. August September under one inch. Average April-September rainfall 10.44 inches, below typical moisture, hinting at potential impact on next season per county agent A. W. Warden.

Great Northern Special Rates Announced for Exposition Travel

The Great Northern Railway announces several special fares. A round trip fare at excursion rate covers the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago with tickets valid November 30 to December 12. An additional rate to North DakotaMt. St. Charles game in Great Falls is about one and one third the regular fare.

House Warming at Joe Readicker Home

A large crowd attended the housewarming at the Joe Readicker home five and a half miles northwest of Volt on Saturday November 3. The orange and black decor, lunch between twelve and one, and music by Mrs. Earl Green Mrs. Lowen Blankenship Bill Johnson and Phil marked the event. Fairbanks-Morse light plant illuminated the house and Mrs. Wm Readicker arrived from Shelby Montana with her daughter Charlotte to join the celebration.

Republican control holds in 1929 Montana Senate and House

Montana reports show the 1929 Senate with 40 Republicans, 15 Democrats, and one former Labor member Taylor of Sheridan. The Republican lieutenant governor Frank A. Hazelbaker will preside. The House sits at 68 Republicans and 34 Democrats. Several district judges were reelected.

Ax entangled by clothesline injures Missoula official

Percy Frazier acting secretary of the chamber of commerce narrowly escaped serious injury when an ax he used for chopping wood became entangled in a clothesline. The ax swung and struck the back of his hand after deflection.

Cattle Shipments Under Roof Progress at Huxsol Block

Charlie Howe praises weather as he completes enclosing the upper story of the Huxsol block. The new roof is finished and partitions are advancing. Five cattle cars were shipped and the stock ward train is expected to be ready for occupancy soon. Jim Terry, G. W. Pointer, and Emil Peterson contributed to recent shipments.

President elect Herbert Hoover prepares to depart Palo Alto for a voyage to South America aboard the battleship Maryland. The itinerary centers on a Panama Canal inspection at Balboa with possible visits to western republics and a Bolivia invitation undecided. Henry P. Roosevelt Hogs Win High Honors at Portland Show

E. J. Williams of Culbertson won third prize with a load of Duroc Jerseys shown at the Pacific International in Portland. The car arrived late, lowering display, but sold for 11.25 per hundredweight, with premiums of 11.00 and 11.50 for second and grand champions. The carload, bred and fed on Williams’s farm, used a registered Duroc boar and sows, with pigs farrowed April 12 to May 2 and raised on sweet clover rye, grain and meal supplemented feed. A. W. Warden faced a 6 month suspended sentence for failing to provide for his wife and child, conditioned on $15 monthly support after pleading guilty. The bond was $500.

On law and motion day November 14 in Deer Lodge Judge ordered Robert Nord atram to serve one to two years for truck theft from Frank Metzger of Brockton. Adoption of Lucille Jacobson finalized by Carl G Jacobson and Freda H Jacobson. Several divorces granted including Lillian Morris from George Morris and Nellie Metzger from Frank Metzger with custody to Phyllis. Other cases continued or delayed and demurrers ruled with short pleadings deadlines.

Malta Woman Dies After Casting Vote

Mrs. Geo. L. Partridge of Malta died suddenly after voting following a two week illness with heart trouble. She fell faint in the car after voting with her son Edgar and others nearby, dying almost instantly. She was the mother of Miss Winifred Partridge, formerly of Wolf Point.

Official County Election Canvass In Roosevelt County

Roosevelt County commissioners and clerk performed the official canvass of election returns with no material changes from last week. McCone County also canvassed last week with small changes in majorities. County commissioner totals show Horsford 1962 and Conklin 1658. successful candidates received certificates of election.

The Wolf Point Drug announces it will open its new store November 17. Mr Wis trom, Mrs Wis trom, and Rosco McCarthy completed installing fixtures and unpacking stock. A one cent sale is announced.
