In the closing county campaign days Eastend shows Wolf Point ahead in the county seat race. Voters who separate truth from Poplar workers’ deception may give Wolf Point and the Clean House ticket a landslide win.
The Wolf Point precinct ballots were moved from the courthouse eight days before the 1922 general election. The authors allege a Poplar-led effort to suppress railroad workers votes by blocking absent voter ballots and steering the county seat power to Poplar allies. The piece accuses a long-standing gang of political operatives of manipulating turnout and ballots to favor their candidates and control county money.
A satirical look at a local Taxpayers Guide issue, mocking county officials and longtime guidance through Roosevelt county. The write up toys with public finances, noting county buildings as gifts and lampooning taxes while referencing Kaiser Bill and local seats.
A Montana community dispute over a county use lease reveals a two year term for the old Poplar brick school building. A. C. Boyd testifies that he read the lease aloud and confirmed it lasts only two years, not ninety nine, with the county potentially negotiating rent or purchase afterward.
