School is Out Vacation s Here and Commencement Events

The past week featured year end exercises and celebrations at the high school with Senior Class Day ceremonies, processions, class history and poems, and the presentation of the key of knowledge. Weekend social events, picnics, a baccalaureate sermon, and the upcoming commencement for the class of 1922 were noted with praise for the students and faculty.

Picture and Dance Piety Hill June 3

A community event at the Piety Hill schoolhouse Saturday evening June 3 features several reels of moving pictures free to all and a big dance. Local organizers invite everyone and ask ladies to bring sandwiches and cake for the gathering.

Special School Levy Carries in District 45

At Wednesday’s election residents voted to authorize a ten mill special levy for school purposes in district 45, despite opposition. Wolf Point schools displayed strong year end exercises, and with strict economy the schools can be maintained at their current standard next year, a cause for congratulation to patrons and property owners.

Farmers All Smile Conditions Excel

Montana crop and livestock conditions improved as rain aided growth. Seeding nears completion with corn and potatoes going in. statewide livestock prospects are good, and local counties report strong wheat, corn, and potato acreages and growing conditions.

Group Four Bankers Convene In Wolf Point Montana

The Group Four Montana Bankers Association plans a June 6 meeting in Wolf Point with about 75 bankers and business men from the northeast. Sessions will be in the Palm Room of the Sherman. a banquet will follow in the Sherman dining room. C E Hoppin of Glasgow is secretary and named J B Switzer F E Rathert and R J Moore as the local arrangements committee. Complete program for the day has not yet been announced.

County Agent and Vets Start Tuberculosis Testing

Dan Noble, Roosevelt county agent, met with Dr Richardson of Malta and Dr Little from Miles City along with Dr Osborn of Bozeman to conduct tuberculosis tests on cattle and inspect dairy sanitation in Roosevelt county. Dr Richardson will stay about a week and respond to cow owners. testing is mandated for all cows used for milk. The service is free and available to milk producers on both river sides.

Fine New Fixtures for Valley Market Improvement

W L Young plans major changes in the Valley Market sales room. Shelving will rise and a Huffman fixture will occupy the west side. It refrigerates and displays fruits and vegetables, holds bulk groceries in bins, and frees space by removing a counter.

Methodist Women Hold Farewell Party In Wolf Point

The Ladies Aid of the Methodist church held a farewell gathering at Mrs. R. B. Conrad’s home on Thursday evening May 18. Honorees Mrs. E. A. Bachman and Mrs. Clyde Patten are leaving Wolf Point for St. Paul and the coast respectively. The event featured visiting, games, and a luncheon, with both honorees receiving silver wares.

First Game Turns Loose the Thrills

The Legion Wolves and Poplar opened the baseball season at West Side Park in an 11 inning thriller. Buzby and Tripp led Wolf Point with four and three hits respectively, delivering the tying and winning runs. Williams and Marley worked the mound as Poplar and Wolf Point combined for 13 and 8 hits in a tight early season clash. McPherson umpired the tough solo assignment as Glasgow looms next Sunday for a fast test.

Postoffice Extends Hours to Ten PM Open Front Door

J B Randall acting postmaster says the post office front door will stay open until ten o clock p m every day. Mail on train No 8 will be distributed promptly when received and box holders may pick up mail the same evening. Windows will remain closed. The change suits business and traveling men.

Miss Alice Andresen Dies Near City At 21

Miss Alice Andresen sister of Barte W Andresen a farmer died May 20 at her brother's home 12 miles northeast of the city at age 21. She had TB and had come to stay with her brother in hopes of improvement. The body was taken to Orland on the 22nd.

Mass Meeting Opens Campaign with 12 Member Committee

About 200 attending at Glacier Hall heard R J Moore elected permanent chairman and A M Wigtil named secretary. A preliminary 12 member committee was chosen by ballot with tellers W E Rae and A M Foor.
