Great Falls May 15. In a heavy federal docket closure Judge Charles N Pray dis posed of 76 abatement cases and ordered 34 padlocked. Eleven Great Falls places and others in northern Montana were shut for one year. total padlocks in two days reached 67. Since April 11 over 170 jail terms and fines filled local jails, sending prisoners to other counties. Notable abatements include the Wolf Den hotel at Wolf Point closed for a year with six months to reopen on $1000 bond and Jack Dwyer’s home near Opheim allowed as living quarters on $1000 bond. other buildings closed for a year.

Horse Causes Smash Near Wilbaux in Yellowstone Division
An eastbound extra freight derailed after a horse appeared on the track one mile east of Wilbaux. Engine 1888 and 54 cars including Chrysler loadings toppled and piled up cars, but no one was hurt. Wreck crews rushed to the scene amid a dramatic, mangled yard of toppled railcars.

Four Robbers Get Long Sentences in Fairview Bank Heist
In Sidney on May 10, District Judge Frank P. Lieper sentenced Stewart Grey 40 years Oliver T. Gray 25 Herbert Gray 23 and Arthur Baker 20 for their roles in the May 2 Fairview State bank robbery. The robbers, who pleaded guilty, herded customers into the vault and fled with about 4500. Sheriff O'Brien recovered most of the money. They were traced to Glendive after being seen in the getaway car.

May Snow Storm Helps Wheat Growth in Montana
A light rain and wet snow Tuesday night left the ground white Wednesday morning, but snow melted by morning. Farmers report good stands with wheat remaining viable for three to four weeks. Jimmy Boyd, Montana pioneer, recalls a June snowstorm near Chinook that blanketed Milk River valley, nearly two feet deep and quickly melting to a lakescape. Malta May 13 Senator Survant of Phillips community presented to Phillips County a large home and grounds valued at 127100m for use as a hospital.
