A 36 hour storm drenched the region with rain and up to a foot of snow in western North Dakota, Bainville eastward, and reached the Twin Cities as rain. Wind felled 140 poles and cut communications. ground soil is saturated, aiding small grain and range grass, but livestock losses are rising as horses and cattle die in the cold blast.
