District Meet Legion June 5 at Wolf Point hosts
The Northeastern Montana Welfare association's semiannual convention, known as The District Meeting, gathers American Legion posts from across the region in Wolf Point. Leonard Dethman Post 22 and local Auxiliary host a program with a concert, golf match, matinee at the Liberty, banquet, and dance, with a four o'clock business session led by Sam Grossman of Glasgow.

Earl Chamberlain starts a new barber shop in the former Security bank building now owned by M. B. Fargen. The remodeled front with modern water and sewer connections houses a two-chair setup. On Monday May 13 Mrs. Harvey Montgomery opens the Peter Pan Beauty Parlor in the same building offering marcelling and finger waves.

Pat Mullis Funeral Held at Grand Forks
Funeral services for Frank Mullis a 37 year old trainman from Williston North Carolina who was killed when run over by a work train at Todd Pit Montana last Thursday were held at the Pierce parlors with Rev H M Werick officiating. Military burial was at Memorial Park cemetery by an American Legion firing squad of Grand Forks. A Masonic service was held at Williston before the body was brought here. He was born in Dunbar Nebraska and moved to Montana then lived in Williston with his wife and four daughters Gayle Dawn Ruth Beverly Doris Eleanor and Joy Ann.

A 25 member Williston delegation hosted about 17 Wolf Point players for the first Inter-city golf match of the season. Williston won by five strokes on windy chilly greens. Kirby led with 77 and Arness 79 for Williston while Burgess 87 and Catlin 89 led Wolf Point. The city may create a public park on ground south of the Great Northern depot and east of the courthouse if it assumes care and residents assist. Great Northern to donate the half-block site and provide nursery stock for planting. Soil is good but low, needing about 50 loads of fill to avoid a wet lake.

County Commissioners Hold Regular Meeting Actions Taken
The county board met Monday and adjourned Wednesday evening. Monthly business and tax matters were addressed with delegations present. County Agent Warden was granted two weeks leave late May. A special session was set for May 17.
Going for Man Girl Is Thrown From Horse
Mildred Freeman, 14, daughter of Francis and wife, farmers 20 miles north of Nashua, died after a horse she rode to the mailbox shied, leaped a ditch, and threw her. She was taken to Glasgow Deaconess Hospital, operated on, but died unconscious. Survived by parents, two sisters Berna 9 Edna 7 and brother Harry 2. Funeral at Methodist church Wednesday, burial at High Mand Cemetery.

R E Krebsbach received a telegram that the National Radio Commission granted a license to KGCX. The station, owned by Krebsbach and operated at Vida McCone county for years, may move to Wolf Point with power raised to 250 watts day 100 watts night. Community fundraising continues for equipment and a studio. Friends in nearby towns offer cooperation. Krebsbach and Joe Jacobs studied Regina equipment needs. A North Dakota boy, Russell Nelson Dodge, age eleven, ran away to join Indian life but was captured near Clancy corral by Hoyish and Gordon. Dodge had ridden freight from Palermo to Williston, then with a 16 year old companion toward Butte before wandering six days in the Wolf Point area. His father Ray W. Dodge wired funds for his ticket home as the conductor on No 4 transported the boy back. The youth, well mannered and thoughtful, thanked Judge Gordon for his help.

Golf Schedule Fills Four Weeks at Local Course
The local golf course will be busy for four Sundays May 12 to June 2 with match play between home teams and visitors from Scobey Richey Poplar Wil liston and Sidney elbs. President Catlin says entertaining two visitor teams per day allows more inter club matches before summer heat. Surrounding clubs typically send up to 12 players, and the local club now has enough to field two squads.

Rev J F Gordes of the Nick wall community outlined plans for Our Savior's Lutheran church to be built seven miles north of Vida at the Millard home. Excavation starts May 1 with a ground breaking ceremony at 9 30. All locals invited to attend hymns and an address. A basement will be built first with eventual completion of a 22 by 44 foot church.
