Lynch Given Sixty Days In County Jail
Walt Lynch was tried in Justice Moon's Culbertson court on a worthless check charge. A six man jury convicted him and he was sentenced to sixty days in the county jail. Complainant Herbert Ziege of Poplar cashed the $10 check. The case moved from Poplar to Culbertson amid an affidavit of prejudice and venue change. Deputy County Attorney Hugh Marron prosecuted. Bramble and Rucker defended.

Last Thursday the Knights of Columbus Council of Wolf Point held a well attended meeting with about fifty local members and twenty five from out of town. W J Kearney and P R Doughterty were elected delegates to the state convention in Helena May 27 and 28 with Rev A J Richard and Mr Reed of Glentana named alternates. Interscholastic Meet At State U May 8 10
The 26th Interscholastic Meet will be held at the State University in Missoula from May 8 to 10. Six hundred contestants are entered and about fifteen hundred students and several hundred spectators are expected. A group of American wheat farming specialists led by Prof Milburn L Wilson of Montana University arrived in Moscow on May 1 to assist the Soviet grain trust. They plan to transform 5,000,000 acres of unused land into bread factories and Wilson will stay for months to establish a large experimental ration school. Pat Mullis Killed In Railroad Accident West Of Williston
Pat Mullis a well known railroad brakeman was killed Thursday forenoon near Marley Siding about fifteen miles west of Williston while on a work train crew between Williston and Snowden. Eyewitnesses say he likely fell between two cars as the train moved. His body was found between the rails and not mutilated. He was taken to Williston, leaving a wife and four daughters. Mullis lived in Wolf Point previously and was married to Lillian Anderson. The death shocked his friends and funeral arrangements were not yet announced.
