A Guggenheim Fund letter dated March 14 1920 expresses gratitude to J B Randall postmaster for aiding Wolf Point Airways Corporation and identifies West Point as aerial navigation oriented. The fund lists Orville Wright Dwight W Morrow among its 12 incorporated members and sends a certificate to Wolf Point with a marker to honor aeronautics progress.

Gun Man Held in Oxford Poolroom Disturbance

Theodore Gardner, 37, arrested by Nichol and Mitchell on a disturbing the peace charge after a poolroom incident in Oxford. Gardner drew a long pistol threatening bystanders, then fled. officers later restrained him. He claims being followed by a song and an electric influence. An insanity hearing may be requested.

Lynch brought back to answer charges over bad check

Walter Lynch was brought back from Lewistown by Sheriff Anderson to answer a bad check charge. It is reported that other charges will be filed against Lynch who opened a school of telegraphy here last fall.

Ben Youngkin Takes Over Singer Agency in Three Counties

Ben Youngkin, who became the first of the year to take over the Singer sewing machine agency from L. L. Bogut, now holds the agency for Roosevelt, Daniels and Sheridan counties. Bogut will accompany Youngkin as specialty man for the present. The Singer Shop received a new shipment of machines and will make summer quantities to Wolf Point, shipped by war to Seahey and other pits.

Livestock Day Planned at Havre for April

A livestock day at the Havre experiment station will study cattle and hog work. Louis Vinke of the Montana experiment station notes tests on 12 cattle lots and 6 hog lots. Wintering cows growing stock fattening calves and hog feeding methods are featured. Past Havre days drew stockmen from northern Montana and spurred interest in station work. A. W. Leavitt’s Role in 70th Congress Laws Enacted

Washington reports that of 1722 laws enacted by the 70th Congress, 23 were introduced by Congressman Scott Leavitt. Senate and House members sponsored far more, with Leavitt’s impact including private pension bills and relief measures. His Indian affairs chairmanship drove additional activity, and 100 laws were reported from his committee.

Spur to Bridge Site Opens in Missouri River Crossing

Preliminary work for the federal bridge across the Missouri River at the Macon crossing is underway. The Great Northern holds rails and ties while Missouri Valley Bridge and Iron Co. builds a spur from the main line about a miles west of the Macon Elevator to the site. 600 cars of material, including 1200 tons of steel, are to be shipped. Gravel comes from Chinook. Foreman says about 175 men will be employed as the project aims to be ready by July 4, 1980.

Paramount wartime epic Wings praised by War Department

The War Department lauded Paramount for its air war epic Wings to be shown at the Liberty theater Thursday through Saturday. The film cost 100000 and will be dedicated to the Second Division with a Washington memorial using stills as models. Paramount built an exact St Mihiel sector to capture battle footage, impressing officials who sought permission to model the memorial from the film.

Local business shows increase in volume

Wolf Point merchants report a sharp rise in railroad trade with February volumes nearly doubling 1928 figures and March forecast to exceed March last year. Carload shipments include fence wire automobiles tractors implements gasoline lumber sugar and flour. Also a carload of horses to Hinckley and a hog shipment to Seattle.

Williston Chosen For Farmers Union School of Instruction

Williston hosts the Farmers Union school of instruction on April 6 and 7 with about 50 organizers and union leaders from Burke Divide Mountrail Williams and McKenzie counties in North Dakota and Richland McCone Valley and Daniels counties in Montana. The event will cover the grain storage plan and aims to spread the Union message across the hard wheat district with forenoon afternoon and evening sessions and a mass meeting Saturday.

Roosevelt county students Del fert Blair Culbertson Bert Weinrich and Julius Grete from Roosevelt county completed 12 week winter short courses at Montana State College. Blair and Weinrich finished farm mechanics while Greth completed wheat marketing and elevator operation. Missouri Opens Up Ferry In Service

The Missouri river ferry operations resume with the White City making regular trips starting Wednesday. Ice and water conditions improved unusually fast after a long impassable period, with reports of high water at Poplar and Culbertson. George Littlefield plans a Macon crossing ferry near the bridge site. Martin Hagen’s power ferry aided early service as the river cleared.
