Pappas Loses Brief Bout to Stan Buresh

Legion Plans Tree Planting at Local Cemetery

The Leonhard Dethman Post No 22 of the American Legion completes plans to plant trees in the local cemetery. Two thirds of addressed organizations have responded positively. no one has declined. Trees will be donated by government agencies while donations fund land cultivation and initial planting. Experts will supervise. A row of trees will line the cemetery front and sides.

East End Man Arrested on Grand Larceny Charge

Henry Qelkers of Culbertson was arrested last Monday by county authorities on a grand larceny charge. He is jailed on $2,000 bail after a warrant prepared earlier, with alleged theft of sats from a neighbor some time ago.

Westland Oil Construction Prep for Wolf Point Site

Westland Oil Company began erecting a bulk station and two 17 000 gallon steel storage tanks on Second Avenue near Main and Front in Wolf Point to serve the town and nearby areas. Ole Hippy of Scobey oversees construction with a small crew, aiming for completion in about ten days to two weeks. The project includes a wood frame bulk station 18 by 25 feet, a pipe line to the Great Northern tracks, and wholesale distribution to the region.

Phantom Beggars Words About The Phantom of the Opera

Fire destroys Merc Co stock at Wolf Point store

Fire heavily damaged the Wolf Point Mercantile Company building early Wednesday, starting in the furnace room and engulfing the basement. Firemen fought flames for over two hours, with wind pushing smoke and heat, leaving stock ruined and front plate glass shattered. The fire blocked by the wall to the Golden Rule building prevented a broader disaster.

Fire at Owl Cafe rear smolders out quickly

Monday morning the Wolf Point fire department answered a fire call at the Owl Cafe rear building. A passer-by’s lighted cigarette started the blaze which burned briefly and was soon extinguished by a small stream before engines arrived.
