Third Meeting of Past Masters Honored by Royal Arch Masons

The third annual meeting of past masters, Royal Arch Masons, was held at the local Masonic temple on June 21 with large attendance from nearby communities. Archie L. Taylor and Neil Tolen received the third degree, the degree team composed of past masters. A toast by Neil McFarland followed a banquet initiated by the welcome by J. R. Burgess and response by H. M. Cosier. A gavel carved from stone from King Solomon’s quarries was presented to Loyalty lodge No. 121 by A. W. Huxsel, who also showed a quarry photograph. The address of acceptance was by John Appelster, with a speech by Senator J. W. Schnitzler. Visiting Masons included numerous named members from Frazer, Poplar, Glasgow, McCone county, and surrounding towns. On the 26th, Royal Arch Masons were invited to initiate Theodore Dahl, R. L. DeVaney, and Herbert McGlenn into the Royal Arch degree.

Glacier Building Ready for Occupancy After Remodel

The Glacier building, now owned by the Woman's Exchange, is nearly ready for occupancy with a redesigned front for merchandise display and about 45 feet of glass. William Youngkin supervised remodeling, drafted the plans, and the sales room measures 30 feet square with deep display windows. Walls and ceiling were finished with plaster board and beam work for a neat, attractive look. The rear area, 140 by 830 feet, provides living quarters for Lang and Mrs. Mann who run a millinery shop with the Exchange. The Exchange announces a community auction sale at the new store room on Saturday, June 30.

Haefner Denies Democrat Label in Clerk Candidacy

Louis Haefner of Bainville visited Wolf Point yesterday to campaign for the office of clerk of court. He says the Herald listed him as a Democrat in last week’s candidate names, but he has been a Republican all his life and will not switch parties now.

Marital Tangle Settled in Court

A complex divorce and annulment case in district court ended with the marriage of Charles Robbins to Helen Robbins annulled and Helen Keller granted a divorce from Charles R Kellett. Earlier, Keller had remarried Rogers. multiple past divorces and an adoption were noted as the court settled estates and related matters.

Initiative has C M Lanstrum 4000 to spare dies at Helena

Prohibition initiative signatures exceed the required eight percent in 34 counties, assuring Montana voters will see the measure on the November ballot. The Montana Initiative Prohibition League plans a broad campaign through the summer toward election day. Dr O M Lanstrum 58 of Helena, Republican national committeeman, dies after a brief illness, heart disease. His funeral is held in the Prickly Pear valley near Mount Helena with friends in attendance.

Kentucky youth wins national orator contest

James R. Moore of Somerset Kentucky, 17, a Somerset High senior, won the fifth National Oratorical Contest. His speech was The Development of the Constitution. Elliott Norquist of Kansas City placed third. Norquist had won a Montana district. Finalists from Washington to Cairo Neb and Brooklyn, New York earned trips to Europe. Moore will compete in the third International contest in Washington in October with competitors from Argentina to Japan.

Wolf Point Airways Corporation changed plans canceling a Pere ant order and closing a TravelAir purchase. The new plane is built in Wichita Kansas and is expected to arrive around July 2. The company has received its charter from the secretary of state and will complete its organization soon.

Chautauqua to Wolf Point with four day program

H M Gizzard of Associated Chautauqua helped finalize Wolf Point season plans under a new contract and reorganized chassis. Four day program runs July 16 to 19 with Applesauce as the opening attraction. Season tickets set at 32.50 for season and 1.25 for children. Auto train crash in Glasgow kills two men

Hector O. Mattson and Francis Campbell died after their car collided with a Great Northern fruit express train at a crossing west of the flour mill. Mattson, 39, proprietor of the West Side grocery, was driving. Campbell, 21, his nephew, was conscious until death. Funeral details followed. survivors include Mattson’s wife and children and Campbell’s widowed mother.

Christy Circus Comes Monday Parade Parade Hours Announced

Christy Bros great elvens and wild animal show arrives Monday July 2 with a 10 am parade opening the grounds followed by a noon show. No night performance at West Point. The vast menagerie occupies a city block with tents and many cages and floats described in an inclusive program.
