Commencement Week Highlights At Wolf Point High School

Memorial Day observance at the Liberty theatre drew a large crowd with Rev. C. W. Orner delivering the address. The commencement program featured Carl Dr. Borton of Glasgow as speaker and noted rising opportunities for graduates, with the class of 38 praised for its achievements and potential.

H D Delegates Meet Here and Culbertson

Delegates from eleven organized white women home demonstration groups will meet in two all day sessions to select the home demonstration program. Brockton Boy Loses Leg After Train Accident

Clarence Christian of Brockton aged 13, son of Mrs. Adrian Magnan, was severely injured when he contacted a moving train on Wednesday. His right leg was amputated between the knee and ankle at Poplar Indian hospital. witnesses unavailable and exact cause unclear.

Jean Taylor Coming to Spend Summer with Family

Mr and Mrs C D Taylor of Waska announce their daughter Jean Taylor will arrive June 7 to spend the summer. She has spent four years in East Radford Virginia including college and a year teaching. The Herald readers enjoyed some letters she wrote to her parents during that time.

Eminent success urged graduates to develop worthwhile talents

The speaker urged graduates to refine their abilities so their achievements are meaningful. The graduating class presented an attractive scene with girls in pastel gowns and boys in dark suits. Mrs. B. L. Shipman led both processional and recessional for the graduation and baccalaureate exercises. Musical numbers included a girls’ glee club song and a trombone solo.

KGCX benefits with large crowd at Coliseum dance

One of the largest crowds ever at the Coliseum enjoyed the KGCX benefit dance Saturday night. Dancers came from nearby towns as three orchestras Ben Anderson's, the Harmonizers and Burnison's Melodists played. The radio was won by M. A. Moyer.

McCone County Assessor’s Office Shows Low Costs

Figures compiled by the Montana Taxpayers association rank McCone County Assessor Sylvester Dwyer’s office as highly efficient. Across a long list of small to medium counties, McCone’s total office expense over the last four years is among the lowest and well below the average for comparable populations.

Randall attends daughters' graduation in Missoula

J. B. Randall left for Missoula to witness the graduation of his daughters Margaret and Una. He plans to return with them to Wolf Point for the summer season.

North Community Meetings Next Week

Rural residents are invited to Dry Fork Waska and Wolt June 6 7 and 8 for community meetings with moving pictures and a discussion of local activities. Five reels from the American Farm Bureau Federation include Out of the Fos on canning and Dead line about farm to market roads. All events start at 3 40 with no charge.

Roosevelt farmers get $295 660 in loans statewide

Roosevelt county farmers received 1088 loans totaling 21,1860 from the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, per Carl H. Peterson, Montana’s seed loan official. Average Roosevelt loans mirror Richland Sheridan figures, with most loans completed and sufficient for farming operations. Montana’s total seed loan fund reached 4,260,000 distributed to 18,008 borrowers.

Medicine Lake Loses Tough League Game To Wolf Point 22 10

The Medicine Lake Wolves slugged it out in a county league game, losing 22 to 10 to Wolf Point. Wetter batting and fielding slips marked the night as Wolf Point built a big lead after the fourth inning. Key pitchers were Maltby Garfield and Olson, with several walks and wild pitches noted. Roosevelt county 4 H delegates to state convention

Esther Courchene and Louis Toays lead Roosevelt county 4 H club delegates to the third state convention in Bozeman June 13 to 17. Sixteen youths aged at least fifteen who finished 1921 projects will travel June 12 to June 19 by Great Northern Railway. Williston Hosts Six Annual Band Tournament

Williston welcomed about 400 visitors for the sixth annual band tournament with six bands from Arnegard Ray Grenora Zahl North Dakota Medicine Lake Poplar and Wolf Point Montana. The day featured a parade by the Williston city band and Boy Scouts drum corps and a banquet. An evening massed band concert was canceled due to rain.

Big crowd at Ist Pavilion dance despite rain

A large crowd attended the Bridge pavilion opening dance on Wednesday evening despite wet weather. The event featured an orchestra organized by Russel Huxsol and included dancers Stu Rose Warren Hill Kitty Jarvis Culbertson and Paul Land Brockton. A semi weekly dance schedule is planned all summer with a June 5 fundraiser for National Guard members headed to camp on June 10.

Two North Country Accidents This Week

Two serious incidents in the North Country this week. Wednesday a truck carrying a cow overturned after the cow shifted, injuring all occupants including 10 year old Donald Zerhe. Sunday 18 year old Alvin Hagen and Scourey youths Ronald James and Mary Ellen overturned after hitting a washout. Mary Ellen badly cut and others bruised but none with broken bones.

Filings recorded since the last issue include Arthur Ryder of Froid running on the Republican ticket for representative, E. L.
