Rebekah Lodge Honors Harbo Couple Before Move
After a regular meeting the Rebekahs and Oddfellows gave a social farewell to Mr and Mrs Andrew Harbo who plan to move to Bellingham Washington next week. A long table banquet followed a group coffee service and a warm presentation speech by Mrs A R Butler. Senator J W Schnitzler also spoke. The item notes 165 Roosevelt county students earned eighth grade diplomas this year.

Livestock buyer J. P. Finch jailed on old counts
J. P. Finch, livestock buyer, remains in Roosevelt county jail under 2500 bonds awaiting a July 18 hearing on charges of issuing fraudulent checks. A check for 885 to Bainville’s John Sands in 1926, plus others to Bainville’s Farmers State Bank, Chester Arthur, and J. H. Herman, totalled several hundred dollars. Finch, who previously bought horses with checks drawn on Moorhead, Minnesota, faces allegations after returning to Montana to buy stock west of the area. He was arraigned before Judge Gordon. He has two underage sons, ages 17 and 14.

Browns in Town at Stampede Draws Rancher Couple

Man Loses Clothes While Asleep In Car
A Miles City man asleep in his parked car woke to find clothing and valuables stolen from the front of the vehicle while he slept in the rear. C. A. Naslund of Poulsbo Washington reported two children stolen from his car. The items included clothing and various articles, but the prized possession was a large picture of his brother's nine grown children family.

Return from Vacation Hints at Kalispell Trip With Family
Fred Rothert returned Sunday from a visit at Kalispell and stopped at Whitefish to pick up Bill Jacobi who joined him a week earlier to visit his brother Chris. Fred drove 526 miles between 6:00 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. crossing the summit when a blizzard plastered the windshield so thick the wiper could not remove it. George Rathert returned with his father.

Frank M. Catlin reports at the Lions Monday luncheon on the state Lions convention in Missoula attended by about 300 visiting Lions and 200 ladies. Banquet drew Missoula crowds and a rose shower from galleries during the dance. Earl W. Hodges of New York spoke as Lions International president, praised by Catlin for his marvellous talk and delivery. There are 25 Lions clubs in Montana and the order remains healthy and growing.

Cliff Cook badly hurt in highway accident
The Cliff Cook family formerly of our town, now living in Chicago, were returning from a visit to Sioux Falls when a gravel stretch caused their car to overturn twice. Mrs Cook suffered severe but non fatal injuries while two sons were scratched. Mr Cook sustained grave injuries with a dislocated neck and crushed spine. He was taken to Chicago in a plaster cast in precarious condition. The accident occurred May 18.
