Stampede Faces Star-Studded Impetus at Wolf Point Rodeo

The seventh annual Wolf Point Stampede, two weeks away, promises the best and biggest rodeo yet with a strong rider lineup. Goodwin Walther Beats Edna Bell in 1925 Rodeo

Sidney correspondence in the Great Falls Tribune last week noted Edna Bell and saddle horses traveling a summer circuit to Alliance Nebraska and other places. The Herald republished the item as general interest. The Herald files show the claim that Edna Bell has never been beaten is in error. At the 1925 Wolf Point Stampede Goodwin Walther beat Mrs. Bell in the women's relay on day one and three.

Car Goes Off Grade No One Hurt In Crash

A Tuesday night crash near the Martin Mitchell farm involved seven people in a new Chevrolet sedan owned by Tom Itami a Chelsea section foreman. The driver a young woman named Fontaine sustained a cut and a bump on the head though no one was seriously injured. The vehicle suffered heavy top damage and left the scene with the rear half flipped. Information on cause was unclear as investigators pursued clues.

Sheridan Insurance Case Transferred to Federal Court

Suit to collect 101865.40 on a robbery insurance policy issued to Sheridan county treasurer Big Torstenson was moved from Sheridan county district court to the Great Falls division of federal court. The 1926 county treasury robbery involved over 100000 in cash bonds and securities. claim proof was mailed December 28 but settlement not yet made. Removal granted by Judge S. E. Paul June 16 at the request of surety counsel William H. Clawson and Stewart Brown.

Great Northern May Shelve Lewiston Line

Great Falls Tribune reports the Great Northern railway board met in St Paul to consider permanently abandoning the cross state extension from Sidney to Lewiston. Montana railroad commission denial of a 42 mile extension from Richey to Brockway may block the project, with the ICC concurring. The company may turn over right of way and survey data to Northern Pacific to aid its work.

Fourth at Chicken Hill Celebrates Independence Day Schedule

A large encampment of Poplar Indians gathers at Chicken Hill for a five day celebration starting with the Medicine Lodge dance. Visitors come from Canada Fort Berthold and Fort Belknap reservations. The program includes religious exercises, a Monday parade and grass dance, and a Tuesday July 4 games and sports.

Volt Victors Over Wolves In Wild Rural Exhibition

An old timers baseball game at Volt diamond drew 800 to 1,000 spectators as Volt defeated Wolves 14 to 13 in a rough but good natured exhibition. Albert Lee umpired well. injuries were minor and nearby stores saw liniment sales surge afterward.

Colonel Walker Dies at Poplar in Montana History

Colonel Hugh Conway Walker long time Poplar resident and postmaster dies suddenly after heart failure while continuing work. Funeral at Erap by Presbyterian church drew large crowds, with Masons and Eastern Star leading graveside rites. Dog Poisoner Busy On The Southside

June business tops June 1926 figures in Wolf Point

J F Pewters assistant general freight and passenger agent for the Great Northern in charge of traffic in Montana visited Wolf Point on Wednesday. He surveyed the traffic situation and called on several business men. He found June business so far exceeded the June 1924 total by fifty five percent.

Grain Dealers Assn Holds First Montana Convention

Charles Gorden of the Commercial club attended Glasgow events as the Montana Grain Dealers association held its first annual convention. Delegates from northeastern Montana and other regions gathered Friday and Saturday, electing a five member board. T. J. Larsen presided, with Lee PA Glasgow welcoming and North Dakota official Lee offering the keynote. new officers include T. J. Larsen president H.
