Narrow Escapes at Crossing Near Poplar Blizzard

Burglar Steals From Stennes-McConnon Hardware Store
A burglar gained entry via a rear window Monday night at Stennes-McConnon hardware store, stealing seven or eight dollars in silver, a dozen pocket knives, and other items. He fled through the same window. Chief Ed Nichol tracked him briefly but lost the trail. Joe Turcotte was linked by tips but left town. Turcotte’s son Tom was implicated, Joe confessed, and Dan Turcotte brought him home. Joe Turcotte was bound over to district court with $1,000 bonds, to face Judge Paul on February 1.
