Budget of News From the Schools

Miss Kennedy says she works for Commercial Investment Trust of New York City and taught English and Latin last year. The town school enrollment reaches 584 with new entrants Dorris Lichty Margaret Alrick Obert Sonsteng and Arthur Gardner. Budget notes show six ladders bought for playground use and no new grades due to teacher shortages. Subjects shift to commercial geography sociology and one science class. physical education is dropped. The Wolf Point school leads in seal sales totaling 118.52 with grades contributing various amounts. Basketball results include Culbertson beating Wolf Point and Williston, while Wolf Point loses to Culbertson. A North eastern Montana Interscholastic District Association is formed with officers and a February 24–25 tournament date set at Culbertson. Basketball schedule lists games through February and the tournament.

Montana Lands National Editorial Association Visit

Helena reports Montana will host 17 days of National Editorial Association members in July with 16 000 newspapers carrying five million lines of favorable Montana advertising. Delegates will tour the state, visiting Missoula for the convention and then regions funded by local communities to showcase Montana resources and opportunities.

New Board Holds Its First Meeting

The Commercial Club directors held the initial 1922 meeting in the club rooms with R. J. Moore as president and Charles Gordon named secretary. Committees were formed to secure memberships across Main street and the railroad area, and pledges totaling 240 were secured from the first five solicited.

Gallatin County Union Bids For Wheat In Bozeman Area

Les ter H. Todd field manager for the Gallatin County Union visits farmers in the Bozeman area to buy wheat and ship it to eastern mills. The cooperative pays 10 to 12 cents above elevator card prices, handles durum and other varieties, and settles 90 percent on delivery with 10 percent later. Federal inspection grades all shipments, and Todd aims to stay in the area several more days.

Woodmen and Ladies Have Pleasant Evening

Members of the Modern Woolmen and their ladies met last Friday at the Kragrad building for a social night. Eight card tables filled the room with Mrs. M. F. Teewmey winning the top prize and Clyde Potvin taking the booby trophy. A midnight lunch followed. Mrs. Curran of Brockton, Royal Neighbors organizer, discussed forming a lodge once enough members sign up.

The Roosevelt County Farm Bureau holds its best ever annual meeting in Poplar on January 26 with two outside speakers and four inside speakers. Topics include nominating officers for 1922, delegates reports, and wireless telephone feasibility for rural areas. The event promises entertainment with a moving picture show music banquet and old timers dance. delegates are confirmed and welcome all.

Wolf Point Legion defeated Homestead High 32 to 24 at the high school gym. Homestead failed to score in the first half and trailed 2 to 24 at halftime. The Homestead team had not lost a game this year.

Last Rites Held For William B Sibbits At Presbyterian Church

William Bigler Sibbits was honored at a Sunday service in a full Presbyterian church. Indian and white attendees, including Sibbits Jr. of the 73rd Field Artillery, gathered with family as Rev. Alfred Hendrickson led a tribute to a life spent in the West. A military guard and pallbearers accompanied the procession to the Indian cemetery for burial beside his wife. Born July 17 1852 in Carlisle Pa Sibbits left for the West at age 12 and later served as a musician in the U S Cavalry.

Quarantine Rules Enforced by City Health Board

The city board of health vows strict quarantine enforcement amid scarlet fever and measles scares. A man fined $100 for ignoring quarantine and a refused home quarantine highlighted noncompliance, while health officials warn that mild cases can still transmit severe illness. Pets are cautioned as disease carriers.

First State Bank Officers Reelected

The First State Bank directors reelected the present officers at their annual meeting and added A. V. Applegren to the board, replacing C. W. Scharf. Officers are S. T. Cogswell president, Geo H. Pint and H. T. Smith vice presidents, F. E. Rathert cashier, A. V. Applegren assistant cashier, with T. H. Shipstead, R. J. Moore, H. M. Cosier and R. E. Pateh as directors. The board praised the year end condition and statement.

Sleigh Ride and Dance Hosted by the Montgomery Family

The J. Montgomery family entertained fifteen friends with a sleigh ride and home dance Monday evening. Miss Grace Montgomery and C. C. Caw provided music for the dancers. Refreshments were served at midnight.
