Ex-Service Men Boost Athletics Plan in City Dance Drive

Posters advertise a St Patrick’s Day dance by the local post. American Legion aims to fund an athletic association to run a gym, city baseball and basketball teams, boxing and wrestling. A M Harvey heads the committee with H N Marron and Wm Jacobi. Proceeds from March 17 will back the project, with two prizes to ticket holders.

Winter Blizzard Disrupts Montana Roads and Trains

A moderate Montana winter was shattered by a two day east wind and heavy snowfall. Roads became difficult, trains were delayed, and rural residents stayed home as the storm spread across the region. Widespread cold followed with severe conditions in eastern states and a wreck near Willmar after a snow plow collision with a passenger train.

Wolves Head to Malta District Tournament

Coach Gillespie leads the team and subs Fred Yandell Leslie McNeil Sylvester Smith Jay Cusker Harold Thompson Don Randall and John Solberg to the Northern District Basketball Tournament at Malta. Most players are in their first year with Yandell as the exception. they are not favored to win but have shown strength recently. Bozeman reports district tournaments will decide most entrants for the Eleventh Annual State College Tournament March 8 to 11, with extemp speaking winners also advancing.

Turner Moves Palace Barber Shop to Oxford Parlor

F. B. Turner relocated the fixtures of Palace Barber Shop from the casement floor of the First National Bank building to a section of the Oxford Billiard Parlor. He has taken an interest in the Oxford place and partitioned the front end to house his shop.

Valley Market and Grocery Now Incorporated

W. L. Young announces the incorporation of Valley Market and Grocery Now Inc a charter secured over a year ago but completed now. Capital stock 40000 with 25900 paid in. Directors include W. L. Young president treasurer Gilbert Lee secretary and J. T. Young. The firm aims to handle growing business with extensive facilities for meats groceries provisions and produce including a 100 ton ice cooling department a 100 quarter beef cream station truck scale and direct wagon-to-store transfer. The Valley reports very large patronage due to its complete equipment and service.

Ed Krebsbach and Carl Jensen showcased a motor sled from Vida last Friday that uses a five foot propeller to grip the winter air and pull across snow. Weighing under 250 pounds with two passengers it can reach about 80 miles an hour and skims over prairie snow without a road.

The Wolf Point Montana city council met February 13 1922 at 8 p.m. with Mayor Smith presiding and Aldermen Carpenter Ferguson Coffey Lynn Lemon along with Attorney Marron and Clerk Champlin present. Minutes from January 9 were read and approved. Resolution 115 discussed issuing 80000 in water bonds but only 30000 will be issued to Antonides Co of Denver with bonds in 500 pieces. remaining 20000 par value cancelled and tax levy adjusted per Ordinance 102.

The Wolf Point schools will not be in session Friday and it is uncertain if they will open Monday. A vacation may be necessary due to widespread faculty sickness and many students kept home by the influenza outbreak, which is sweeping Montana.

Indians Marry in Judge Gordon's Office

Growing-Four-Times and Mrs. Tes se Blount were joined in marriage this afternoon by Judge Gordon. The bride, widow of Isaac Blount a well known reservation figure who died in Rochester, Minnesota last September, brought a notable tribal connection to the ceremony. Growing-Four-Times has prior marriage history.

Legion forms Northeastern Montana Welfare Association

Delegates from twelve American Legion posts met at Culbertson on the 16th to organize the American Legion Welfare Association of Northeastern Montana. Officers include Dan Euston president and Dinty Moore vice president, with Plentywood named for the next meeting in July. About thirty people attended a post banquet as Major Keene and Major Sheridan, Busha, Lamport and local post leaders spoke on the bonus measure and other Legion matters.

Wolves Top Culbertson In Tough High School Tilt

The Wolves edged Culbertson 16 to 10 on their local floor last Friday in a hard fought high school game. Key players included McNeil and Smith for the Wolves while Grunst and Hagen, with Cusker, held Culbertson in check. Kenneth King refereed a fine contest as plans for upcoming Malta matches were outlined.

J G Haney noted expert on diversified farming will speak in Roosevelt county March 3 and 4 at Wide Awake Piety Hill Culbertson schoolhouse and Lanark. Talks run 2 to 6 pm Friday March 3 and 1 30 pm Saturday March 4 with a county tax payers association meeting to follow Culbertson. Club Directors Meet Big Meeting Next Wed

The Commercial Club board met Monday in an afternoon session at the club office with President Moore and members present. They reviewed the potato warehouse project, audited bills, and scheduled a general club meeting for March 1 at 8:30 p m at the Sherman venue. Attendance is urged with refreshments and entertainment planned.
