Wolf Point won the Glasgow sub-district pennant with a 25 to 21 final over Malta, closing a weekend tournament spree that included wins over Poplar and Saco. City Team Tourney On Glasgow Court

The north eastern Montana independent basketball championship decides March 1 and 2 at the high school gym. Eight towns compete in a 10 game tourney with Glasgow facing Nashua in the opening round. Other matchups include Saco versus Hinsdale, Wolf Point against Poplar, and Brockton versus Malta. Winners and losers meet in six remaining games March 2.

Double Tractor School Clash Sets March Fifth Date

John Deere and McCormick Deering tractor schools will share a single day on March 5 in Wolf Point. McCormick-Deering program is at Liberty theatre with a noon lunch. Leavitt Seeks 2.1 Million Acres for Montana School Lands

A bill introduced in the House by Rep. Leavitt would authorize transferring 2,100,000 acres of unappropriated federal land to Montana as school lands. Of this, 200,000 acres would be set aside for a hospital for disabled Montana miners, with income from leases directed to schools and hospitals.

Taxes beat last year in Roosevelt county October November

Treasury figures show Roosevelt county October and November tax collections improved over the previous year with delinquent taxes reduced by 322,410.31. Delinquents totaled 64,668.72 this year versus 86,079.03 last year, while current taxes rose to 305,169.20 from 275,241.58. Hall insurance premiums for October and November 1927 totaled 10,252.15 compared with 10,988.76 for the same period in 1928. The county treasurer calls the season the best collection time yet.
