Rathert Rites Held Sunday for E B Rathert
Funeral services for Mrs E B Rathert were held at First Presbyterian church on Sunday afternoon. The church was packed and flowers filled the scene as Rev S A Walker led the service. Eastern Star members conducted the ritual and she is remembered as a charter Riverside lodge member and Civic League founder. She battled tuberculosis since 1927 and died after a pneumonia attack, leaving husband F E Rathert and two sons Charles and George, plus her parents and a sister.

Grant Given 90 Days for Crime in Oldtown Village
Cecil Grant, recently arrested on assault charges after breaking into a house in Oldtown and attacking two elderly Indian women, was tried before an Indian council in Poplar and sentenced to 90 days in the Indian jail, a penalty many regard as too light for the crime. Henry Bartz, arrested in Froid on a white slavery charge, was taken to Great Falls by a U.S. marshal to face federal court. Clyde Schwartz, already serving a sixty day sentence for stealing a cash register at Poplar, was released after completing his term. Walter Lynch, who ran a telegraph school here, was arrested in Great Falls on bad check charges and sent to Lewistown to answer them. additional bad checks are alleged locally.

Bainville Pool Hall Raided by Prohibition Officers

The Conkiin Horsford commissioner contest trial is set for February 18 at Circle. Judge Ford, originally to preside, was disqualified by the Conkin side. Judge O. & Goddard of Billings will sit instead. Hearing occurred December 29 at Glendive. Horsford attorney John Kine filed demurrers and a motion to strike parts of the complaint. While Ford refused to strike any part, it is said some parts of Horsford’s answer were stricken. Pending outcome, Horsford remains in office per attorney general ruling.
